Introducing the Sinn 103 A Sa B
The Sinn 103s are easily some of our favorite chronographs on the market. Not only do they have gorgeous vintage styling, directly pulling from the earliest Sinn's of the late 60's, they are exceptionally made and surprisingly affordable, with models starting at $1,640. We reviewed this? "entry-level" variant of the 103 a couple of years ago, which is notable for its domed acrylic crystal for a retro feel. Over the years, Sinn has realized various versions of the 103, some with more modern tech, other's with special LE dials, creating a nice variety to seek out. Well, Sinn just announced a new limited edition version of this watch that is sure to turn heads, the 103 A Sa B. Or more simply, a blue 103.The 103 A Sa B takes the 103 design and infuses it with color. Both the bezel and the dial have been turned blue for a fairly striking result. I'll try to make this short, but it does require some backstory.My grandfather was a great guy, and loved a good bet. In 1960, he took a bet with a friend, for, you guessed it--the outcome of the Presidential election. The loser would have to buy the winner this Omega Seamaster, which they had both seen in the window of a local jeweler. Upon Kennedy's election, my grandfather received the watch and wore it in good health for many years.After he passed away, it was handed down to my father, who also wore it regularly. Unfortunately, the caseback began having problems--the gold was literally wearing away. Over the years he took it several times to a jeweler, who told him it had to do with the pH of his skin (no idea if this is true), and he (the jeweler) would fill the caseback with new gold on occasion.When my father passed away in the early 2000's, the watch came to me. I have the SD43. It's a great watch and I like it. Comfortable, durable and modern.Next month I have the chance to get a SS Sky Dweller but unfortunately finances won't allow both watches.I had the opportunity to try on the Sky Dweller recently and it has really caught my interest.I would be very happy with either - what would you choose?SD43?Sky Dweller?
