Pocket Watch Estimated at $40K-$60K Brings $242,500
When the hammer came down on lot 79 at Christie’s December 14 New York auction, an unassuming Patek Philippe pocket watch with a pre-sale estimate of $40,000 to $60,000 had reached $242,500. The watch, manufactured in 1913, received a Geneva Observatory rating certificate in 1920 and was delivered to its American retailer in 1921. In 1925, it was purchased by American super-collector Henry Graves. The 50mm diameter watch with enamel dial has hours, minutes, subsidiary seconds, and an up-down or power reserve indication.According to Christie’s sale notes, no one knows for sure how many watches Mr. Graves ordered from Patek Philippe, however it is understood that he commissioned approximately 30 timepieces in all. To date there are 15 known watches owned by Mr. Graves, and this piece brings the number to 16. The watch is engraved with the Graves family crest and motto Esse Quam Videri – To Be Rather Than to Seem.A modern Breguet also generated an excellent result. Lot 3

i have 9 wrists. it makes it near impossible to find leather straps that fit. i was thinking of a navitimer with the black leather straps and was wondering how big they were. also, anyone know what a navitimer goes for used?
Constellation pie-pan value?
I know this is a real general question and the answer depends on condition, etc. However can any of you give me an idea what price range an early 1960's Constellation with a pie-pan dial would run me?Thanks in advance for your replies.
OEM strap/deployment ref for Omega Moonphase
Hi, thinking of getting the black Omega leather strap and deployment combo for this watch of mine. Can anyone help me with the reference number for that OEM part and what do they normally sell for? Thanks
Patek Philippe is a dish best served cold
Many years ago, my wife and I were touring some out of town friends around NYC. We went into the Tiffany store (which I'd never have done) and ended up at the Patek Philippe boutique (really more of a museum) on the second floor. Among all the elaborate beauties, I was struck by a very simple white gold 5196. My wife encouraged me to try it on, and we had a nice long conversation with the sales associate, who after all was said and done, wrote down the particulars on Tiffany card. Our friends thought we were nuts for even talking about such a purchase, and i found it slightly embarrassing. My wife made a big point of taking the card and folding it once in half, and putting it in her purse. She said very confidently, I love that watch, it's much more elegant than the big chunky ones you usually wear (ouch). You shouldn't have it now, but I'll buy it for you for your 40th birthday. Then we went to dinner and I mostly forgot all about it for years and years (although who can ever really
