How Facebook Fans Designed A Unique Rpaige Watch For Auction
Did you ever try to get one of the big brand watch companies to make a watch just for you?? Well, they do...but for a price that would make a colossal hangover seem like distant bells ringing. So, when my watch company's Facebook page, Rpaige Watch Co., reached 5,000 likes, I decided that it would interesting and fun to celebrate the milestone by having my Facebook followers, and visitors, collectively design one of my watches...then auction it off.I had no insights or expectations as to whether it would be a success or failure, and that really wasn't the issueI just thought it would be a fun for them and a great promotional event and fun for me.Here was the original post of the contest:I'd like to invite all of you in designing a new Rpaige Wrocket watch that I will auction off on our Facebook page when it's completed. Here's how it will work:1. The group picks a case material. either Steel or titanium2.The group picks a dial from several that I'll post .I can post up to 20 dials3.
Breitling Airwolf Raven Chronograph SuperQuartz Watch
The majority of new Breitling watches that are released don't excite me. It is a lot of the same to be honest. Oh look, another chronograph watch in a heavy highly polished metal case, maybe with a rotating bezel or a slide rule. That is basically most Breitling watches - although some are better looking than others. This watch is different because it is of the few that has the cool SuperQuartz calibre 78 movement. This is the movement that the famous and popular Aerospace models had. Yes, it is a quartz movement, but it is what is known as a "themoline" quartz. Meaning it has a temperature sensor that adjusts the vibration frequency of the quartz crystal to adjust to temperatures so that the watch can remain as accurate as possible. This takes the watch from being accurate to within a few seconds a month to being accurate to within a few seconds a year. Like the original Aerospace watches, the Airwolf Raven is a COSC certified Chronometer. Here in the Breitling Airwolf Raven, Breitling
la Montre Verte City Pulse Pollution Detecting "Green Watch"
Here is a cool idea that is more than just a concept, but actually being done right now. Pictured above is the "Green Watch" and it is part of the la Montre Verte City Pulse project currently taking place in Paris France. It was started by the FING (Fondation Internet Nouvelle Generation) The project's goal is to create a system to measure air and noise pollution in urban centers, eventually learning how to create environmentally sustainable cities. There are currently three prototype Green Watches being worn that have air and noise sensors. The watches collect information and use a mobile phone that the wearer has to transmit information back for the database. What you get is map as seen below that measures in extreme detail the areas of the highest noise and air pollution in the city. The project aims to have 1000 Green Watches in Paris that will constantly be measuring the environment. The Green Watch contains a few pieces of technology including a GPS chip, Bluetooth chip, and the o
Is the 1200m Ploprof wearable...
on 6.5 inch wrists ? I tried it on once (was wearing my behemoth OS 300m diver on the day) at my AD and though it was heavy it definitely was not too large lug to lug or so...it's thick though .I have had my share of large watches, however have preferred 40-42mm lately. This might be changing slightly again...as in these last few weeks I've been considering the SBDB001 600m Seiko (large motha***). Normally I am a bit impulsive and am actually quite amazed at myself that I didn't order a new SBDB001 from Japan yet !However I would like to consider all alternatives and also wait for Basel (I'll do my best ....) as I'd like to see the new releases from Seiko, Omega and Rolex. So what can you tell me about the ploprof? Is it wearable on my 6.5inch wrists...also what would the weight on isofrane (head only) be please? Please give me your opinions regarding the watch and post many pics if you have them !
Patek Philippe 5524G
Okay, so now that things have quietened down just a bit since Basel, I decided to post my thoughts on this controversial pilots watch (and I use the term loosely) hereHow do people seriously feel about this attempt from PP?
