Introducing The Breitling Chronoliner, A Modern Aviator With Vintage Nuances
Breitling has?been rekindling vintage-inspired pieces for a while now. Last month, we showed you the in-house Transocean 1915 Mono-pusher Chrono, and before that a 38 mm Transocean Chrono. But, let's not forget that Breitling's legacy as a tool watch applies as much in the air as it does on the sea. Its latest release, the Breitling Chronoliner, is an aviation themed watch that evokes images of that?bygone era. When Breitling says that it drew inspiration from vintage pieces?in designing this aviator, it's only natural that we focus on our favorites. If we put on our?vintage?goggles, we don't have to look too hard to notice piston pushers and a?black bezel on a?panda dial C and that means a Breitling Co-Pilot as far as vintage aviators are concerned. We covered one here?not too long ago. Granted, the registers are at 6, 9, and 12 instead of 3, 6, and 9 and the bezel is of the?24-hour variety?instead of 12, but maybe the Chronoliner's looks are inspired by a medley of older models. Bring a Loupe: A Diverse Selection Ranging From A $500 Takano To A $25,000 Rolex GMT Retailed By Tif
This Bring A Loupe looks at unusual watches, all with a twist that makes them collectible in their own right. We start strong with a rare military Omega, and a minty Rolex GMT-Master retailed by Tiffany. Chronograph love is there this week as well, with an undervalued Minerva and an unexpected Universal Geneve Aero-Compax. And you'll discover a couple of defunct brands, including the ephemeral Takano and the budget-friendly Clebar. This is your Bring A Loupe for February 26, 2016. An Omega Military Reference CK 2777 With Original Thin Arrow Dial 1 OF 8 You might remember this super rare military Omega from our visit to Omega's museum collection, here. The Reference CK 2777 represents a crucial step for Omega: a 37mm antimagnetic watch to answer a special order from the British Minister of Defense for the Air Force, in 1952. This reference fights magnetism with a thicker dial and inner soft iron cage, exactly like the first Railmaster CK2914 launched in 1957

State of the collection and advice on a trade?
All,Been reasonably happy with the current collection - the YM from 2017 being my favorite - love the bit of bling!Thinking about a possible trade. My trusty datejust has has slept in it's box for 2 years after a service and I simply don't wear it anymore. The Explorer 2 has also seen little wrist time over the last year or so.Been thinking about trading the Exp & DJ for either a DJ41, smooth bezel, blue dial, oyster bracelet or a Milgauss z Blue. The power reserve and date appeal on the DJ but can't make up for that lovely blue dial & lightning bolt! What do you guys think - trade or not - if so, DJ or MG? CheersChrissieboy
