Need Advice On DayDate
I've been back in the DD market as of late, and the watch I settle on will not be a safe queen. I'm wanting something I can wear daily and for a long time. I'm quite drawn to a 228235 or even a 118206, but I've found a a K serial 118238 near me which I'm not at all opposed to.. and it's $10k less that either of the previous options mentioned. One thing I'm an absolute stickler on is wanting the heavier band with solid end links found starting on the P (2000) serials. Of course, Rolex then upgraded the clasp starting with the F serials a couple of years later. I actually had one of these on my previous DD that I could kick myself for selling. I was only 27, timid about all gold, and wanted to pay off my house, so the watch was sold. Needless to say, values have gone up substantially in the subsequent 10 years But I digress. What are your thoughts on the clasps of newer models with president bands? Is it substantial enough of a difference that it would be a deal breaker? Or a relatively
Submariner bezels- font question?
Am considering purchasing a used 16613, owner says it is an X series which would date it to 1991. But I am having a hard time with the way the bezel looks, and I can't find a definitive source explaining the different fonts. This is the bezel of the watch- This is a 1991 Submariner found online- I don't have to be an expert to see that the '4' and the '5' on the bezel are completely different. So is the watch actually a different year, has the bezel perhaps been changed for one that is not correct or were there different bezels used in the same year, and it was just an optional look? Thanks for all your help...Stanima
