Officine Autodromo Monoposto Review
The Autodromo Monoposto is the kind of watch that can't help but illicit strong reactions from people. It doesn't look quite like any watch you've seen before, yet doesn't betray what a watch should be. Inspired by the single seat racecars of the early 20th century (monoposto being Italian for single-seat), the Monoposto melds automotive history with elements of classic watch design, to make something altogether unique and exciting. It's as much a car-watch for watch people as a watch for car people. On the surface, you have an elegant case and dial design that border on dress, yet have a distinctly technical component that touches on the vehicular inspirations. And of course, there is the bold and potentially polarizing red line on the domed crystal that refers to the tape or paint mechanics would put on tachometers to inform drivers of their engine's limit.Autodromo Monoposto ReviewCase:? sell 5712R for regulator 5235G?
here is a question that is nagging me:::)))) a month ago i committed for a regulator 5235G (within a downpayment that is actually refundable if i withdraw from the deal). however, very recently i got offered a 5711R - which i have been chasing for a while - for an excellent price, to which i have immediately agreed. the 5711R is actually a no-brainer for me - some lust for gold probably:::))). so here are my options, since for reasons of internal family hygiene in cannot get two watches in a month: sell my 5712R (i already have a very good offer, about what i paid for it) and get the 5235G or just cancel the deal on the regulator. an argument for the former is that the 5712R will see little wrist time only since the 5711R will take over the nautilus part, an argument for the latter is that the 5712R is actually an appreciating asset and after all 'easier' to wear than the full gold 5711R.i also have currently a 5227R and a 5320G incoming next year.help::::)))) decisons decisions.....fi
Patek AD Expansion
The Patek AD in La Jolla - C.J. Charles - is expanding their store to take over the next door business to better display its huge selection of Pateks, Langes, Panerais, Cartiers, IWCs, etc. Sales associates are both friendly and knowledgeable. They love to talk watches and monitor this forum. They also freely give out the latest catalogues for all watches, including the hardbound book of Langes (which I declined since I am not interested in that brand. Their collection of Lange is unparalleled, IMO).Current Pateks include Calatravas, Complications, and both Nautilus (5711 Gold on bracelet) and Aquanaut (I think SS, but don't remember). C.J. Charles is sited next to Westime, which has its own selection of high end watches.Anyone in the San Diego area should feel free to pop over to La Jolla and visit the watch stores on Prospect Avenue (the main street). PS: There is a waiting list for SS 5711's, naturally.
Starter PP around $20k - suggestions
Thinking of buying a starter PP around $20k. Am leaning towards a 5035G / black face. Any other thoughts?
