Needing some help from Omega enthusiasts
I recently began the search for a new watch as I will be sending my Sub in for service and also as a reward for having a great quarter. I had three watches in mind and I've decided that out of the three, I would go for the Speedmaster. I came across a piece that I really liked, mainly because it had some gold on it. I haven't found any information about a model like this being made because I'm not really sure what to look for. Explorer 214270- a few questions...
I had the short hand model and it didn't last long here. I never fully connected with it. I am interested in the revised, long hand, blue luminescent hour numeral model. I understand these, and many steel Rolex watches are not so easy to find. I have a local Rolex dealer, AD, who has one. Is finding one indeed somewhat difficult these days? And, is the new model more charming than the one it replaced? Is it a fabulous watch? Any opinions on it are appreciated. Thank you!
First ever sighting?
The great actor Robert Culp in the absolutely brilliant 1960's TV series'I Spy' was the first person I ever noticed wearing, what I was later to discover, was a Rolex GMT. 'Till then I hadn't even heard of Rolex. Then, one Saturday afternoon in 1967, my young face pressed against the glass, I saw it, the GMT MASTER smiling at me from the local jewellers window, and I knew it was 'the one'.Leap forward to 1972, Bond St. London, and I slipped it nervously onto my wristand haven't stopped looking at a GMT face since................ Just to tell the time, obviously.What was your earliest Rolex 'sighting'?
