iPhone App Smart Enough To Read Watch Names
When "Watch Radar" sent me an e-mail about their new iPhone app that is able to detect the name of a watch just by looking at the dial I was intrigued. Until now we've all had to read the name of a brand on a watch dial to know what it is - but no longer. Finally technology has come to the rescue. Using the camera on your iPhone, the Chinese made Watch Radar app takes a picture of the said watch and uses its whiz-bang technology to scan the internet and read the name for you. Wow! It even goes so far as to pull data from the net and give you some brand history. Now this is the future.Watch recognition has come a long way for sure. Those pesky luxury watch makers usually print their brand names in complicated English, even if the brands themselves aren't based in English speaking countries. No fair! Watch Radar is there to look at your Rolex and tell you that for sure, the name on the dial is Rolex. It can even tell you the model of many watches - now this is progress. At this point I in
The Marcello C. Senatore, A Curious Wink To The Rolex Daytona That I Want To Get My Hands On
I've said some negative things about Rolex. I think they act really slow, haven't innovated much lately, and play it too safe. Regardless, Rolex has a few powerful classic designs under its belt. The two major ones for me are the Submariner lines, and the Daytona. Speaking of the Daytona, I understand that it is one of the most desirable watches on the planet from a demand standpoint, meaning more people want one, that can get one. Rolex has taken this opportunity to increase the prices dramatically. Meaning you can't really get one for under $10k. Steep.Well what do you do when you want a something like a Daytona, but can't afford or get one. Sure there are legions of "imitations" that are simple low cost alternatives or play out fakes, but you aren't that type of person? You like the style, but you want something nice you can be proud of on your wrist. For me, this is a totally logical approach to satisfying a need. Others feel that if you can't afford a Rolex, you don't deserve to w
Belated Incoming
Guys, been lurking in here looking at all the nice AP's for awhile. So I sold my platinum Day Date and got a new 15400 from DSW. So far I am loving the hand made feel of the RO. Looking forward to a long relationship with this one, I think it adds a whole new level to my little collection. Thanks everybody for all the great threads!Knife and watch shoot-58.jpg by elahad, on Flickr
Decisions: 15202, 5146r, Aquanaut, Datograph, Chrono Bleu
Alright gents...I'm hoping I can get some of your guidance as I'm having a hard time deciding on my next move. There are so many watches on my want list but only so much cash to go around (around $60k). I've narrowed it down to 3 choices:1. 5146R and Chronometre Bleu2. 15202, Aquanaut, and Chrono Bleu3. Lange Datograph up/down in rose gold Currently I have a DSSD blue, BLNR, Sub Date, and AP Diver. What direction would you take? Thanks
Faux Patina Lume
My dad recently picked up a new 1312 which he loves however when comparing its faux patina lume to my PAM which has the normal lume it hardly shines as bright when charged. I put them side by side and charged them for the same amount of time and mine is far brighter and lasts longer. Is this normal w/the patina'd lume?
