Made In Detroit, A Visit To Shinola Watches
watches-dealer takes you inside the new factory of Detroit-based Shinola. Unless you've been living under a rock for the past several months, you've undoubtedly heard the buzz about a new watch brand, one that hails from within our own shores C right here in the good old US of A. The brand is Shinola, and the buzz has been loud. Deservedly so. There hasn't been a large brand manufacturing watches in the United States for decades, and a return to that industry C particularly in a home base such as Detroit C is exciting. There are a number of important aspects to understand about this new company, and lots of questions we wanted answered. A few weeks back, I was treated to an on-site visit at Shinola's new Detroit factory, where I got an inside look at the operation and got my questions answered. But before I delve into the Whats, Hows, and Whys of the Shinola brand itself, it is important to understand a few important background points:1. Once upon a time, American-Made watches were am
Vintage Speedy
Hey all. This isn't an official FS: post so I am filing it here. I got my hands on a 1975 Speedy Moonwatch. The piece is in good condition overall. The exception being that the chrono doesn't work. I'm not an expert so I can't open it up to look. Everything else works great and it seems to keep very good time. Any idea on what it would be worth given the condition? I'd prefer to be wearing a Moonwatch with a few less miles on it? Is my vintage piece (with chrono issues) an even trade for something 5 yrs old? Thanks all. Here is a pic. New Sub wear/wind
Two weeks ago I collected my first Rolex - a brand new no date Submariner, I've bought it to wear not to be an ornament. My job is fixing gym equipment so there's a possibility of knocks, I train before work so it's no big deal to wear my Apple Watch during the day. Since I got it I've been wearing at home after work (beacause it's new and cool) but it seams a bit daft to wear just around the house for the sake of it.So here's my question, should I,1/ continue to wear my watch in evenings and weekends to keep movement ticking over. It's a Submariner after all, built to last. 2/ put away watch on Monday morning and, (unless going out midweek) set the time on a Friday and wind - the pulling out of crown once a week won't wear seals or cause any long term damage.Or3/ buy a winder, leave watch in it so it's always good to go.Thanks all for any advice.
Stolen Rolex Submariner Serial Z502F877
Posting in the hope that one day this causes some Karma to come around 😪. Whilst I am here a cautionary tale. In Barcelona this year for Mobile World Congress I was leaving a bar at around 11pm when a two guys appeared and snatched my iPhone (X, brand new). The situation got far worse however when I followed them around the corner and was confronted by 4 others (in hindsight exactly what they wanted). A fight ensued which ended up with me on the ground being kicked to hell and a boot in my wrist being used to then remove my beloved sub. I'd knocked one out and after they disbanded caught another and dragged him to the police, he's in jail now, but no Rolex, and no insurance sadly. Apparently a gang there positions people in bars to watch for target watches and calls them up to attack them as they leave. Seems I was lucky as a German girl attending the show did the same as I and was stabbed a few times. I'm a Barcelona veteran and still got screwed over so look out all.Stolen Ro
