Cartier Oops With New Les Must Collection Ad?
The new Les Must collection from Cartier is a redo on an older Les Must collection from "back then." I think it was from the early 80s. Not that the collection looks the same, but the name has been re-used. That is fine. I believe the collection is a little bit more 'affordable' than most new Cartier products, as a way of helping to hedge a large consumer neglect of luxury purchases - the recession really slammed the industry. To get people excited about new products (or at least aware of then), watch makers need to advertise. This is clear. How they advertise varies greatly. Most of it in my opinion is rubbish. Never really does a good job of getting people excited about the products. At least not people like me. I prefer to see items in their "natural environment." Otherwise watch makers actually do something that is really funny, or just plain odd. Which is amusing because they are typically so conservative. At least Cartier is. Well Cartier is gonna hate me for saying this, but I ha
Glashutte Original Sport Evolution Impact Watches
According to Glashutte Original, these flexible components depreciate the points of attachment of the dial and the mechanical movement, absorbing up to 60% of the external impact forces. Visually, the brilliant red material adds a particularly sporty touch both dial and movement, the last appearing through the exhibition of Sapphire back. To further differentiate these models within the sports evolution, Glashutte Original Watches collection has placed a signature "Sport Evo Impact" on the glasses. Ticking within the Glashutte Original Sport evolution Impact Vortex is the exclusive 94 calibre movement.
Basel 2014 makes me thankful for the good old days (watches)
Nothing in the Omega lineup has the appeal of this 95 year old cal. 26.5 beauty:Or this 64 year old cal. 332 bumper automatic:More recently, we have the predecessor of the co-axial AT, the Seamaster 120m from 1998:with its reliable pre-coaxial Omega 1120 (ETA 2892-A2) movement and a case only 8mm thick. After 16 years and one servicing, it remains the most accurate watch in my collection. (Yes, the dial is misprinted with Speedmaster - one of five known examples.)
Why no "Fat" Spring bars on Omega dive watches
Omega has a history of producing dive watches that is on a par with Rolex, I have often wondered why they didn't use fat spring bars on their professional watches. Rolex and Seiko felt the need, but not Omega. How much weaker are the standard spring bars? Is there any need for fat ones?
A day late.....but it's finally here!
