Christophe Claret Allegro Minute Repeater Two Time Zone Watch
The flagship new watch by Christophe Claret for 2015 is the Allegro - the Swiss watch maker's newest musical watch that combines a cathedral-style minute repeater with a second time zone indicator and a big date window. Is this the traveler-friendly minute repeater watch you've been waiting for? Once again with a "smiling dial," Claret proposes a unique combination of complications for niche high-end watch collectors who will most appreciate some of Claret's handiwork. When we last left off with Christophe Claret minute repeaters, I took a hands-on look at the Christophe Claret Soprano watch in 2013. The Soprano contains a movement with a minute repeater as well as a tourbillon - producing a beautiful and full minute repeater melody as it tells the time via chimes. The Christophe Claret Allegro isn't just a Soprano without the tourbillon and some extra complications. What you should notice first is that the movement has been flipped over, with "Charles X" bridges inspired by those on th
Watches, Art and Cars
I had an enjoyable couple of hours on Saturday, visiting the AP Lounge at Art Basel Hong Kong, viewing some fabulous pieces at this enormous event and then briefly dropping by the Automall to view some of the great cars they have on offer. I made full use of being out without the kids! All in all, it was a fun afternoon. The AP lounge had a collection of ROOs through the years - unfortunately the contrast was too much for my iPhone s little sensor, so I couldn't get any useable photos. There were also a number of the new ROOs on display - the LE tourbillons look much better in real life than in photos. They are amazingly three-dimensional. I'm no fonder of the ROO Combat, now that I have seen it. The ROO 25 (the reissued Beast) has a far more luminous dial than the original - particularly with 25 yrs of patina - and I actually liked it much less than the museum pieces I've seen of this reference. This was the perfect opportunity to give my 15400or some wrist time. Not from Art Basel,
News out of AP at SIHH
What do you guys think about the news that came out of AP at SIHH about discontinuing the Jules Audemars line and creating an entire new line to replace next year? Any guesses on what category it would be in or any insight to what you think it may be? If this news is old, I apologize , it was new to me and I am excited to see what the future holds.
Newbie With Speedmaster Bracelet Problem
What a great forum, wish I would have joined before my problem arrived! Does anyone have insight where I can purchase links for a 1562/850, 18mm? I am the lucky new owner of a bracelet that was only made for a year as the replacement links I can find are for the 1563/850! What other bracelet would fit a 1996 Speedmaster 175.0083.? Frustrated, fat-wrist newbie who has yet to enjoy his watch1996 Speedmaster Automatic Date (Ivory/Silver Face)Stainless 1562/850 Bracelet (Two Links Shy Of Helpful)
