Introducing: The Moritz Grossman Atum Pure Steel (Live Pics, Pricing Info)
Stainless steel. You could not summarize Baselworld 2016 any more succinctly. And there's no mystery why it's being so commonly used this year. High-end watchmakers are lowering price points in order to encourage watch enthusiasts to continue spending despite decelerating economies in their most important markets. But taking an existing model and encasing it in stainless steel won't do. The transition to more affordable metals requires sensible changes to some of the less obvious features of a watch, a rule that Moritz Grossmann followed brilliantly this week with the introduction of the Atum Pure Steel. 1 OF 4 A gorgeous dress watch with an hours, minutes, and small seconds display, the Atum was previously offered only in precious metals, in rose gold for $36,100 and in white gold for $37,600. It's now available for the third of the price, at $11,500. Now, that's the kind of jump that makes you wonder how much of the good stuff has been chucked out of the original model?
New Arrival - SOH 46
Went back and forth between 42 and 46, blue or black bezel, white or black dial, etc. Stopped by an AD and tried on several. Settled on black/black 46. Blue/blue and blue/white were definitely more striking looking, but I felt like they'd get tiresome to look at after some time went by...and another flip would occur. Black/black just seems easy on the eyes, not as flashy and more likely to become a permanent stable mate.Largest watch I've ever worn (7.25 wrist), but once strapped on, for some reason it looked better to my eye than the 42mm version. That 24mm bracelet is a bit flashy, but I'm going to give it some wrist time before trying other straps...although I have two on order. Very comfortable considering size. Build quality is second to none and being only 13mm thick I suspect it will see wrist time for business and pleasure. Here she is (crappy I-phone pic):
Newbie question
Hi Guys, I am new to this site and to Breitling. I recently purchased a Breitling Crono evolution (automatic) from a buddy of mine. He kept it in a watch winder when not wearing it. I wear it every day but I noticed the watch stops after a few days, this doesn't happen to my rolex which is automatic too. I wind it full when I first put it on...Not sure if the watch winder damaged the gears or if this is normal or it may just need to be serviced. Any thoughts? Thank you
Allergy to leather straps?
I am curious, I have never been the allergic type but with two straps in particular, both from the same manufacturer (Greg Stevens) my wrist goes on fire every time I wear them. First it happened with the Horween and I thought I was allergic to Horween. Then it started happening with his Crazy Horse II strap. I just put back the oem black leather, as I don't think I have allergies to those. But will see. This sucks because greg's were my favorites. Any of you ever dealt with this?
Panerai Pam Chronograph 310?
I just purchased one and it will be here friday. I cant find many reviews so I wanted some opinions. For me I liked the 40MM and the fact it was a chronograph. Is it a lower end Pam Mid Or Higher will it be collectible. Any issues I should be aware of? This is also my first Panerai.Thx!
