Arnold & Son Golden Wheel Watch: Return Of The Star Wheel
Some people are going to be really excited about the upcoming Arnold & Son Golden Wheel watch which marks a new "Star Wheel" style complication which many collectors have great enthusiasm for. This is a concept also known as "wandering hours" which has been around since at least the 18th century - though it is rare to find in watches today. The Arnold & Son Golden Wheel will mark a welcome return to the wandering hours concept with a little bit of Arnold & Son character and a lovely classic style."Star Wheel" is actually the name for a collection of watches from Audemars Piguet that was the last to emulate this style of watch. No longer produced, the Audemars Piguet Star Wheel came in a round case or in a Millenary form with the Audemars Piguet Millenary Star Wheel watch which Frank Geelen offered some hands-on with here. You can see the use of three transparent discs which revolve like a system of planetary gears which move an hour marker along a minute track. However,?the
Hamilton Khaki Takeoff Auto Chrono Limited Edition Watch
When it comes to pilot watches, you are generally choosing from one of two categoriesC the simple Flieger style, or a more modern tool-style watch with a lot of complications. ?With their latest, Hamilton?has sort of bridged the gap, giving us a modern pilot watch with simplicity in mind.Hamilton traces their aviation roots back to 1919, and this new watch, the Khaki Takeoff Auto Chrono Limited Edition (yeah, that's a mouthful) draws inspiration from their elapsed time clock produced during WWII.The main inspiration drawn from that clock looks to be the color scheme, which is at once easily readable, especially with the last 15 minutes of the ?countdown bezel marked out in yellow hashes (those hashes remind me safety markings on a plane, as well).A perhaps more indirect inspiration is the fact that you can display this watch on your desk, just like a clock. ?How so, you ask? ?Surprisingly enough, the case is able to be detached and placed in its display box, thereby becoming a non-wris
Looking to Buy First Breitling - Which Navitimer 01 or GMT
I am looking to purchase my first Breitling, i am interested in the Navitimer GMT or 01 - Looking at 46mm or 48mm versions in a steel bracelet.I like the Black Dial and Blue Dial Versions - Looking for suggestions, tips and user feedback.... they both look gorgeous. Also looking for a good discount on these, I am based in the Bay Area, can buy here or from the UK.So far only really found Watchmaxx who give 30-35% off and also Jomashop. Not sure if I get the full warranty.Looking for an AD so that I can get a 5 year warranty if possible
Honest thoughts on the Emergency
I have ALWAYS like the Breitling Emergency. It's the aesthetics! Just something about its robust look. The only drawback to me is the fact that it is quartz. I wish there were some way that this timepiece could be what it is with an automatic movement. Still it is a really desirable watch to me.Did they ever make this watch in a mechanical movement? Seems like I remember seeing one, but not sure.
Omega Quartz Repair
I took a couple of Quartz watches in today for new batteries as I do every couple of years. When I went in to pick them up my Jeweler had some bad news......My constellation didn't start-up. Does anyone know someone who could look at my watch other than sending it to Omega Service Center? It was running when I last wore it and put it away away last summer.
