Incoming Ana-Digi
I posted a WTB elsewhere recently for an Omega X-33 or a Breitling B-1, thinking that either would be perfect for a forthcoming trip to NY (and would in any event serve a purpose thereafter). I decided against the X-33 for various reasons, but before I could unearth a B-1 I was offered a nice minty Aerospace Evo and decided to take the plunge. I have to say that I'm glad I did.The Evo is the largest Aerospace yet at 43mm, but it still retains both it's legendary comfort and it's lightness as a consequence of being titanium. Other changes are a slightly different handset (a half-lumed hour hand and a needle minute hand), re-styled rider tabs and a little more bling in the applied logo and numerals. On the wrist (and away from the bright glare of my lights), however, it seems almost understated and certainly doesn't shout too loud. The size is fine on my 6.75 wrist - bear in mind that the wrist shot is taken at close quarters with a wide-angle lens - but I certainly wouldn't want to go a
Turned off by Bond-related marketing
Am I the only one? Companies have to advertise, but the blunt product placement in the movie and association of a product with a fictitious character make me cringe. Sorry, Omega, I won't be buying your Bond's choice any time soon.By the way, I am not an Omega basher by any means. Love my Speedy.
New to me (incoming . . . )
I joined the cult of Omega (that just sounds cool). I've never been much of a Seamaster fan but I do like the look of the vintage models. I happened across one the other day in the FS section and bought it. It should be here Monday or Tuesday and I am very excited to see it up close. A few NATO straps are on the way as well. Here is the seller's pic of my new early 50's Seamaster Calendar (wrist pics to follow). The watch looks pretty clean, runs well and comes from a reputable seller so I'll hold off on a service for a while. Any info you have to share on these classics would be appreciated. Thanks!
The Journey
Lately, I have been thinking about my watch journey and how I got to where I am today. I've been active in the watch world for about 10 years now and its been quite a fun journey. Been to a handful of watch GTGs over the years and have made some really good friends. My first nice watch I purchased on my honeymoon; a two tone Tag Heure Link Chronograph. Two years later purchased a Rolex 14060M to celebrate the birth of my daughter. After that it was off to the races and I have had over 100 watches since then. Thankfully I became friends with the DavidSWs and JustRolexes of the world and got to have fun with watches at rock bottom prices. I've even had the privilege of being around guys with vintage watches that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. For awhile now I have really enjoyed Panerai. It's a watch brand that I always come back to. I have come to the conclusion that they are some of the best designed watches ever made. As I look at the 372 on my wrist right now, I feel it is a
