Ancon Sea Shadow Hands-On
It's always fun to find a brand you've never heard of, though for us, it happens less and less these days. So, when I stumbled upon Ancon watches a few weeks ago, I was extremely excited. A quick glance revealed over-sized, over-built tool watches with looks akin to war machines, not your average desk diver. A deeper inspection revealed that the watches were a mix of familiar elements, well-tuned colors and interesting detailing that when combined created watches that were simultaneously charming and fierce. Like an antique weapon, there is something sculptural and entrancing about them, but underneath, the aggressive intentions are still apparent. The inspiration for the watches is the USS Ancon AGC-4, which was a modified commercial passenger-cargo ship meant for carrying troops that saw a lot of use in WWII. The watches themselves, of which there are 3 distinct models and many variations currently available, are a strange mix of huge modern cases with classic dials. Those who are fam
Anyone else take this route?
Hey everyone! First time in this neck of the woods so be nice I have always been a Rolex and Omega guy. I recently acquired my first Panerai and as you can guess I have my heart set on a Royal Oak as my next watch. For lack of a better term, the Royal Oak 15400st has been sort of a grail for me, except unlike most true grails, I can own this watch one day. The question is, when? I've recently blown through my toy budget, so no matter what my next watch will likely not arrive in the very near future. Especially since venturing into the $15,000 range for a watch will take me a little while to be ready to commit. With that said, there are of course other, cheaper watches that I love. There are always Rolexes on my radar, but there is one watch out there that has a similar look to the RO, in fact along with the Royal Oak, it comes from the genius mind of Grald Genta. It's the IWC Ingenieur 3239.In the pre-owned market it can be had for more than $7k savings compared to the RO. The des

I was thinking of a carbon diver? I have a rose rubber now but would love something to use instead of my Submariner - anyone have one of these?
No Talk About 532 Here...
There has been a bunch of talk about the 532 in other forums, but not much here since it was first announced several months ago. It looks like they are starting to hit the boutiques now. Retail price in the US is $12,600.What do folks think about it the watch? I have read mixed feedback about it, but I personally like the watch a lot. Just about the only critical feedback I have read that I agree with is that the price is a bit high...I really like the black coating on the watch and I also like the PIG on the dial... I called and asked to be put on a list in a few boutiques... I hope I get the call!
More white stuff .....
and I don't mean snow! Another happy Skydweller owner as DavidSW delivers another flawless transaction. Very happy with the size/weight of this watch, and the dial is just beaming with legibility! Enjoy some pics!EricE
