Esteemed Mechanical Watchmaker F.P. Journe On Making A Quartz Movement
Although it?was as early as?January 2014 that we debuted the F.P. Journe lgante (hands-on here), it is only now that the first quartz movement equipped wristwatch from F.P. Journe C one of the?undisputed greats?among today's independent master watchmakers C finds its way to the U.S. market. It was on this occasion that, in the F.P. Journe boutique on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, we sat down with Francois-Paul Journe for what turned out to be an hour-long conversation?about the finer details of the F.P. Journe lgante and the movement inside of it.There were many different questions that we had?prepared prior to the conversation: how one of the most?respected traditional watchmakers of our age ended up making a quartz movement; how involved he had been in the process;?what his approach was to what is generally?accepted to be a "soulless" alternative to mechanical watches with a beating heart; and, last but not least, what makes this quartz movement special? What stood out to me?
Introducing The Nomos Orion 1989, Celebrating The 25th Anniversary Of The Fall Of The Berlin Wall
The α (Alpha) wound NOMOS Orion became a classic the very first day it hit the market. We’ve covered it in-depth in A Week On The Wrist before, and we’re covering it again during what seems to be a season of makeovers for a couple of NOMOS families (recall the recent True Blue dial of the NOMOS Weltzeit just last month). Here, with the unveiling of the Orion 1989, NOMOS is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. 2 OF 3 The Orion 1989 with a 33 mm case. This stainless version of the Orion comes in two sizes – 33 mm by 8.54 mm and 38 mm by 8.86 mm. The dial is a galvanized “November” gray that has a very fine eggshell-like texture thanks to diamond polishing. The hands are the simple stick, but this time gold-plated – along with eleven gold-plated, stamped hour-indices. The seconds subdial still has the circular grain to it, which along with the overall concavity of the Orion’s dial and case, giv

Yacht-Master Bezel Concerns 16628
Hi, I'm new to the forums and hopefully you can help me out.I'm a little concerned about the longevity of the full gold 16628 bezel. I'm seeing a few listings where the bezel looks like It's been polished poorly or damaged. Is this easy to damage the bezel on the gold model... or is it more the platinum versionS?Bonus questions: does anybody know if the gold yacht-master has full gold links or hallow? And what is the weight of this watch?Looking into this potential option as my first Rolex since it seems to be good value for a relatively modern full gold piece.Thank you in advance
