Partially rescinding my endorsement of Swiss Service Center
In mid-January, I sent my SMP 2552.80 to Swiss Service in Illinois, the closest Omega-authorized service center. I bought it in May, 2000, and never had it serviced before. It was losing ~28 sec/day. They sent a quote a few days later, and I approved all the work. This was my first Swiss watch, and while I recently contemplated selling it, I know it should be a keeper, after thinking about all it went through with me for the past nearly 8 years. The other day, I noticed that my account was debited for the Omega service. Today, I called them and they said it was shipped out and gave me tracking. FedEx just showed up! Notice all the packaging - even my cats were curious! It was wrapped in tissue paper, then a small manila envelope, then a FedEx bubble wrap envelope, then a small FedEx box, then a medium FedEx box. My watch looks fantastic, all nicely polished to nearly new. I wound it 40x and set the time (noticed I didn't have the right date until after I took the pics). Putting
Tudor vs. Omega
How do the two watches compare... talking about new ones. quality, etc. Whats everyone's opinion?
Would or wouldn't you
I currently have a 5127R, which I use as my days off piece and a 5167A for work and swimming etc.As I suspect with many of us the hunt can be more fun then actually achieving the goal. For the past few months, I have been looking to get something else. And my choices have varied from a Rolex Day Date, FP Journe, Lange & Sohne and also back to Patek Philippe. With the Patek I was looking, as per a previous thread to get a 5146P. But a preowned piece are few and far between.Recently I saw a 5146R being sold by a grey dealer here in the UK. Now I have always loved R/G and the 5146 was the first Patek model that I owned. The price of the watch was reasonable. So I contacted them to see if they would be interred in doing a trade against my pieces. I half expected them to come back and say yes and that they would offer X amount for mine and I would have to make up the difference in cash. But much to my surprise they offered me 2,300 more for mine then theirs. Which would make a nice chang
A few 5167 questions
Now that I have a 5167 it got me thinking on a few things. 1. How long does it take PP to produce/make a 5167 including the movement?2. What type of steel is used in the case?3. Are PP truely made by hand?4. How many 5167's are made per year?
Panerai to Flip (maybe for Profit)! Need Advice ASAP
Hi All,I pose this question to the Panerai experts. Have another chance to buy ANY Panerai (in stock) for 20% off and no tax. If purchased, I probably would sell immediately, although no guarantee as I've fallen in love with the brand. So, I'd like your opinions on which one you would buy for that purpose and why? I'm not looking at any special/limited editions, but was thinking a GMT perhaps. And please, I'm not interested in being called out for BS. If you doubt me, I'm happy to PM anyone, especially those in SoCal:). Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
