SalonQP 2013: A Most Personal Exhibition Of Fine Watches, Remarkable Brands And Astoundingly Difficult Crafts
I can't really think of another time when I found a 3:40 am wake-up feel any easier than it did just a couple of days ago. On this cold Budapest morning I got up as fresh as scarcely ever before, checked all my gear one last time?- laptop, camera, chargers, lenses, flash, memory cards, batteries - and finally set off to have what I would call "my first watch exhibition experience." My destination was the 2013 SalonQP fine watch exhibition, held between the 7th and 9th of November, in the Saatchi Gallery in the fabulous city of London.?Saying that I was excited would be a massive understatement. Although I was familiar with this annual event - we at watches-dealer have covered it several times - the thought of seeing so many special watches "in the metal," at the same place, at the same time had me counting down the days and weeks before the event started.Part of the list of exhibitors placed just by the elevators; The Fine Watch Room with its main exhibition piece in the centre and ano
The Mario Batali Limited Edition Chronoscope Watch Line
When I think of Food Network Chef Mario Batali, I think "big and orange," which is a lot like the special Ernst Benz Mario Batali watches. I also keep hearing him scream "Parmigiano Reggiano" in my head. Hence the blocks of Parmesan cheese. See, it all goes to together. Haven't watched an episode of Molto Mario in a while to be aware of whether he brandishes the watch during the show, but I do know that Mr. Batali wears?? an Ernst Benz watch (with his namesake on it) about town much of the time. I've known about the orange themed watches for a while, but it wasn't until June when I got to check them out (picture above of me wearing the watch) that I thought much about them. While I don't need a butter laden Italian food themed watch in my life, you can just pretend that it is a good black and orange watch. Suddenly you have like a Halloween theme and the watch is cool again. The watches are pretty nice actually, and they make a good case for themselves being connected with a Charity. B

First Nice Watch
So I joined the forum a few months ago to educate myself on Rolex's. I have always wanted a submariner and had my heart set on a no date 14060M. I prefer the vintage style and size of earlier watches and didn't want anything flashy. Eventually after looking around I just didn't feel confident enough to buy a used Rolex either online or private party. I had a local dealer quote me a price on a used one which was basically new msrp.Dismayed I began looking for alternatives. That's when I found the Omega 60th anniversary collection and specifically the Seamaster. I know some find this to be fake vintage, but this watch had everything I was looking for. It's the right size, clean lines and dial and will be a perfect one watch for daily wear. The watch arrived today and am extremely excited. I don't think I would have had the same feeling with a used Rolex.Pictures to follow when it's light out and bracelet is sized.
