College Survey: No Need for a Wristwatch
Born when Ross Perot was warning about a giant sucking sound and Bill Clinton was apologizing for causing pain in his marriage, members of this fall's entering college class of 2014 have never written in cursive or worn a wristwatch. In their world, e-mail is way too slow, and Russians and Americans have always been living together in space. Each August since 1998, Beloit College has released the Beloit College Mindset List. It provides a look at the cultural touchstones that shape the lives of students entering college this fall. Created by two Benoit professors, the survey was originally intended as a reminder to faculty to avoid dated cultural references, but over the years it has grown to become a catalog of the rapidly changing worldview of each new generation. This year’s survey reveals that few in the entering class know how to write in cursive, and they rarely if ever use snail mail. Fergie is a pop star, not a princess, and Clint Eastwood is a sensitive director, not Dirt
Superb Piaget Ring Watch With Diamonds
This is not the first time that Piaget has placed a watch movement of small quartz on a ring, but for a reason, that this practice impresses me every time. It is a fairly logical extension of a watch and a ring. Often times shows a woman luxury is more than about the closure of watches and jewellery, thus simply placing on finger yield the same result if it is placed on a wrist jewelry. This ring of Piaget is really a watch of miniatures.
Strap combinations for (New) AP Safari
Hi all,I'm contemplating picking up my very first Audemars Piguet and i'm quite set on getting an AP Safari. The only concern I have is that it may not be suitable to be changed up for more formal situations. (Or casual for that matter)I was wondering if anyone here had any other strap combinations for the New 2014 AP Safari other than the OEM Brown Hornback.Brown Rubber? Black Rubber? Black (or other colours) leather perhaps?Would really appreciate the help and it will aid in my decision for this beautiful watch
Decisions, decisions! Which ROO to acquire?
Well I'm I've been a long time lurker of this forum; but this is only my second post. I usually post on Paneristi. My watch history has been a few Omega's, the last being a PO 9300. I sold it because it was a bit too heavy for daily wear. Plus I've had many Panerai's including a 351 which I loved and a 311 two different times. Both being titanium the weight was perfect. The 351 had gold hands and was beautiful but I wanted more. The 311 was very nice but I don't think the complication was there yet as both watches experienced issues even after both had complete services (which was extremely annoying!). So currently I'm watchless. I've was looking at the PP Nautilus. I love the slate gray dial but it's out of my price range as that dial doesn't come in time only. The white is nice but I'd always be upset loving the gray/slate dial. AP I love too and I've settled on them or at least I thought so. So I do want a display caseback. And I like several of the 44mm like
Advice on selling my reference 5055
I have a 5055, white gold, black face, deployment buckle that I want to sell. It definitely needs a polishing and the strap needs to be replaced. Would you recommend having it polished and changing the strap if sell it to a AD? Or am I wasting money making the watch look new again as a dealer realizes exactly what needs to be done to get the watches appearance back up to snuff. Also, if anyone could point me in the direction of any dealers that I could contact for a possibly sale. Thanks in advance.
