JCK 2015: Ball Watch Engineer II Volcano Features New Antimagnetic Case
In 2014, Ball Watch broke new ground in antimagnetic watch technology with the introduction of its Engineer II Magneto S, a watch that featured an inner shield, made of a patented alloy called “mumetal,” which protected its mechanical movement from the adverse effects of magnetic fields. This year, the company takes the concept a step further with the Engineer II Volcano, which boasts an entire case made of antimagnetic mumetal. I got my first look at the watch this week at the JCK watch and jewelry fair in Las Vegas. Why “Volcano?” Because, the company says, volcanoes are among the most ideal environments for exploration and research into antimagnetic technologies because of their natural links to strong magnetic fields; volcanoes inspired Ball Watch’s researchers to further develop the magnetism-resistant mumetal alloy beyond its initial usage, as a protective inner “diaphragm” surrounding the movement, and incorporating it into the components
Rolex to Launch Tudor in the U.S. this Summer
Rolex has confirmed to WatchTime that it will be launching its sister brand, Tudor, in the United States in the late summer. It has set up a new company, Tudor Watch USA LLC, in New York City. The company has tapped Russell Kelly, most recently a sales executive at Vacheron Constantin, as brand manager for Tudor in the United States. An executive at Rolex USA said the stores that will carry Tudor have been chosen but declined to say how many there will be or to give any other details about the introduction. There will be a major national and regional advertising campaign, the executive said. The company will officially announce the Tudor launch at a press conference at the Baselworld fair in April. The Tudor brand has not been available in this country for nearly a decade: Rolex stopped selling it here in 2004.The Tudor Heritage Black Bay

General thoughts on the 3970
Curious what people think of the 3970. It is by no means as illustrious as it's younger brother the 5970. But curious what people think of it in comparison to the 5270, 5970, 2499, 1518 ect....in some ways I feel like it's the black sheep of the family and the least desirable. The reason I ask is I feel it's amazing, the movement is great as we all know. The piston style pushers I prefer, the diameter and lugs and overall case is gorgeous. I realize there are a LOT of them out there and a lot were produced. Even white metal black dial...Thanks
Upgrade Explorer to Date Adjust?
Hi,I've had my Explorer for about 18 months now and absolutely love it.I wanted a plain looking Rolex without a date.BUT i find myself looking at the watch for the date every now and then, so I'm thinking about upgrading to a Date Adjust with a Black face, so it sort of looks like an Explorer without the hands and numbers on the dial.I've noticed there are several different sizes. The explorer is 39mm, the larger date adjust is 41mm.Do you think I'll notice much difference and secondly will a Rolex dealer do a part exchange?I'm UK based. Many thanks.
