Omega SMP 300m: Real or Fake
I'm wondering if I made a mistake: I bought a Seamaster Pro 300m 2250.80.00 off eBay. What wasn't advertised was there were no boxes, cards, manual, nada - just the watch. I've had one before and it looks real, but a couple of things came up as red flags. first it was advertised to fit an 8 wrist (I have a 7 1/2 and it's tight). This could be an honest mistake, so I'll that one go. Then I notice that after wearing it for a day, it was stopping when I took it off and let it sit for a few hours. It's supposed to have a 44 hour power reserve. Then I started looking at the back and there is no serial number. This could have been filed off as grey market dealers were doing that for a while. No red dot but I don't know if they were on this model. I don't recall from the one I used to own (that came from Watchmaxx and had everything but the warranty card). Also, the little imprinted diver helmet or whatever is not there. Aquanaut to Mexico for vacation?
So, after a debate....My wife is not bringing her engagement ring...but I just feel naked without a watch. We're staying at a top resort, but wondering what your thoughts are on bringing my aquanaut? I figure a Rolex would be a little too showy/obvious, so thought my aquanaut would be a perfect under the radar watch? Also, I've never worn it in the pool/ocean -- nothing to worry about, right? Thanks as always!
So what's been discontinued today?
I've read the PM Skydwellers, and pre baselworld versions of the dssd so far....Anything else?
Servicing a Rolex with an aftermarket bezel insert
First of all, apologies for the long post, I just want to properly explain the situation.
I have a GMT Master II (16710), which I'm planning to take in for a service. It originally had an all black bezel, but last summer for fun I decided to buy an aftermarket Pepsi insert. I liked it much more than I expected, and having bought a second watch (an old Cellini) for more dressy occasions, have decided to stick with the Pepsi bezel. Now, I'm considering taking the watch in for a service at my local RSC. It doesn't desperately need it, but I think it could do with one, as it's never been serviced (and is now almost 20 years old). I know that Rolex won't be happy about the after-market bezel insert, but to be honest I'm happy for them to throw it away and put a genuine one in there, in fact that's my goal. However I don't really want to lose my black bezel (should I wish to change again in future), so am considering fibbing and telling them I don't have it, in the hope that I wi
