Dominique Loiseau Dead: Master Watchmaker Leaves Strong Legacy
Sad news today as Swiss/French watchmaker Mr. Dominique Loiseau has passed away, Gregory Pons at Business Montres reports. He was just 64 years old. Still relatively unknown to many people, Loiseau was one of the venerable geniuses of modern watchmaking, able not only to restore incredible and complex works from the past, but invent the word's most complicated watches of today.I first encountered Dominique a couple of years ago at Baselworld upon the announcement of his new eponymous brand "Loiseau." Ralph Lauren Sporting Watch With Elm Burl Wood Dial
I recently learned that this watch does not yet have an official name. It will sometime next year. This is a new version of the Ralph Lauren Sporting watch. It has an elm burl wood dial and face that is meant to evoke the interior of one of Ralph Lauren's cars from his personal collection - a 1938 Bugatti (that is as sexy as a top model). Fr. John's chocolate Speedy
Today I had the good fortune to meet Fr. John for lunch at a gourmet restaurant in Athens called Allen's. This is a new version of the old one which closed in 2003. A great burger joint.Anyway, I had ask that he bring his new chocolate Speedy for me to have a look. I sure am sorry he brought it! It is simply stunning! I had no idea it would be so beautiful. Purchase Question - 5140P
Hello!I'm pretty new to this hobby, but just wanted to say this Patek sub-forum and the incoming threads are driving me crazy!! That said, I'm thinking about purchasing a Patek on my own for the first time. I have a 5119G that I received as a graduation gift (M only Patek). I prefer leather straps over bracelets for Pateks for some reason and I'm trying to be under $90k for a brand new piece in my name. I've done some homework and I really like the 5140P but I was wondering if you guys could give me some other suggestions. I've heard some pieces being application only pieces? Is 5140P an application piece? Do AD's discount pieces like this? Thanks guys!
