This is one of the hottest newer Sinn watches, and a rare 'non-branded' limited edition by the watch maker. In 2008 (maybe starting in 2007) an odd trend started - the 'black on black' watch. Everyone seemed to have a black on black sport watch with names like "phantom" or "stealth." Even Sinn was not immune and felt it necessary to produce a limited edition version of its popular U1 watch line in the black on black motif that people were crazy over.Such watches are not unreadable of course (just for people who aren't wearing the watch). To compensate for similar colors of black, the watches have different textures and other mechanisms to help with legibility. You've probably seen at least something about DLC. You might not know what it is though, and the three letter term might go right past you. That's OK, because DLC is a relatively new addition to a watch maker's arsenal. Speaking with the very knowledgeable people at Linde Werdelin, I? recently have a new understanding of DLC, and am excited about Linde Werdelin's future incorporating the special coating on select lines of watches. Be aware that while DLC has many industrial applications, finicky watch makers demand only the highest grade materials and processes.DLC stands for "Diamond Like Carbon." PP 5296G vs. 5396G
Ok mates I've finally narrowed it down to these two choices. Any enabling is appreciated. The 5296 appeals due to its size and simplicity. The dial looks great and I don't really have a need for a hidden case back. I think it would compliment my 5167 nicely even though it's the same movement. The 5396 appeals due to complications - although I don't have much use for any except the date and maybe the moon phase. The watch is somewhat chunky and obviously thicker than the 5296 which was somewhat of a turnoff. Also, the 5396 seems more dressy than the other. I could easily wear a shirt and shorts with the 5296 but would be harder to pull off with the 5396. Both bezels are prone to scratches also. Finally, I'm on the fence about the prong buckle with the 5296 vs. the fold over clasp with the 5396. Both are nice but the fold over would prevent the watch from being dropped. Any advice appreciated.
