BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends June 6, 2014
One of the biggest threats facing the watch industry is the proliferation of fakes and replicas. Truth be told, some very good fakes and replicas can be found these days. However, watch brands are stepping up to the challenge and are looking at ways to incorporate technologies to make their watches difficult or impossible to copy. One such brand is Carl F. Bucherer and we will be finding out the technologies it employs to make its watches harder to copy. Speaking of fake watches, we also interview The FakeWatchBuster, a vigilante on Instagram who busts users and their fake watches. Elsewhere, we take a look at De Bethune's DB29 Maxichrono Tourbillon, Seiko's Astron Solar GPS watch, and offer our verdict on SevenFriday's popular "P series" watches.1. The Most Common Fake Watches & Other Stories From The FakeWatchBusterIf you love watches and you are an avid Instagram user, you might have heard of the The Fake Watch Buster, a man who goes around busting users on Instagram with fake w
Breva Genie 02 Air Black Watch
Earlier in 2014 we showed you the newest creation by Breva, their Genie 02 Altimeter watch with a hands-on look. It followed up the Genie 01 watches from 2013 that included a barometer. For Baselworld 2014, Breva is adding an additional version of the Genie 02 with the Genie 02 Air produced in a titanium case that has been coated in black and bears slightly different dial and calibration. The Genie 02 is a rather complicated watch given the fact that it has a mechanical altimeter in it. When Breva originally released the Genie 02 they tried to pen it as a watch for use on high mountains while skiing to check your altitude. I figured it made a bit more sense for them to focus on it being an aviation watch. So that is exactly what they did with the Genie 02 Air.Breva needed to rework a few things on the Genie 02 in order to make it suitable as a flying versus skiing watch. Aside from the hip, dark color scheme, the altitude scales have been adjusted for a wider range. The Genie 02 has a s
Silver Snoopy Speedmaster

AD's in Canada?
Does anyone have a dealer in Canada that they deal with that could perhaps point me in the direction of a decent discount? Our local AD in C-town won't even include tax Is that regular of PP? Even Rolex AD's throw some discounts?
Rolex, more than just time. Obviously.
What are we really paying for?(Apologies, if this is an 'old chestnut' of a post).But. I was wondering how many of us here, actually use the added functions of our Rolexes? From the Submariner and it's various depth ratings to the Sea Dweller & DeepSea's incredible specifications. (I have read that only 2% of wearers of 'Divers Watches' can actually swim). How many of us, wearing a Yachtmaster, GMT, Daytona, Milgaus ,et al, make use of their full capabilities?I have travelled across various time zones and found it easier to change the position of the hands on my GMT, rather than figure out the correct, relevant position of the bezel etc. So. What ARE we paying for, beyond a reliable, sturdy movement in a nice, tight case? Are all those extra, albeit, beautifuly designed and sculpted features just a personal fashion/style statement? I suppose I've just answered my own question! There will be many amongst us on this BRILLIANT, helpfull, knowledgeable and friendly forum that, sail yachts,
