Rolex or Breitling (quality)
Rolex or Breitling ? (quality)I know Rolex is something like status symbol, and is considered higher than Breitling. But i was wondering if in the terms of pure quality (without looking on prestige) is Rolex better. Movement, finishing, bracelet quality, etc. If you compare for example the Yacht Master with platinum bezel or the Submariner with the new Breitling Galactic SleekT Unitime (the whole new model, with tungsten carbide bezel) or any other B with in house movement. Which is better? Are Rolex movements better then Breitling in house movements? I read that Panerai, for example doesnt have very high quality in house movements, bacause they are not making them for long time and they need to practise. Is it same with Breitling? Thanks for any answers.
Vintage seamster in the wild
Saw someone yesterday wearing his dad's old seamaster. He was pretty sure it was from about 1949-50. Non- original bracelet, splotchy dial but case and crystal in good shape. Running well apparently. He was wearing it since his own 30 year old seamaster was in for service. Boy did it look small. But pretty good for an old watch that apparently has been sitting around in a drawer for quite a few years.:cheersBtw the thread title seamster is due to the stupid spell check, sorry- no offense intended to all omega fans!:
Thoughts on the Nautilus 3800?
Hello everyone. Wondering what everyone's thoughts here were on the Nautilus 3800. It seems to me it has the same bones as the highly sought after 3700 (except for the seconds hand) but just slightly smaller at 37mm. Great potential value?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gray Mkt
I'm still new so I apologize if there is a thread on this already....I was at an AD yesterday and the salesperson was basically telling me that, without me having a prior relationship with an AD, it was near impossible to get a Sea Dweller anytime in the next year or two. I mentioned to her that it seems I have no choice but to go to the gray mkt. She informed me to be careful, b/c she's had atleast two preferred clients that purchased from non-AD's and when they sent their watches to Rolex for service, Rolex said the watch had been stolen and sent back to the original buyer. Has anyone heard of this before? If so, how is it possible to get comfortable buying from the gray mkt unless the person you're buying from is the original owner?
