See Us Learning To Build Watches This Week #fcwatchweek
Today I will be flying to Geneva to learn how to make a watch and one of you is joining me. If you recall, back in December 2012, our monthly giveaway was for either a Frederique Constant (or Alpina) watch, and the grand prize was a trip to Geneva to build your own watch and take it home with you. Well, now our grand prize giveaway winner, Mr. Andrew E. and I will be fulfilling the experience at the headquarters of Frederique Constant this week.This will be the first time either of us will build a watch. Frederique Constant boasts some nice in-house designed and produced movements, and we will get guidance from their top watch makers. One of them will be the talented Pim Koeslag, who also produces the watches for Frederique Constant's very high-end DeMonaco brand.During the week, our team will be sharing updates from the manufacture mostly on the watches-dealer Facebook page, Twitter, as well as on the watches-dealer Instagram feed. A friend offered to sell me this watch recently and I can't seem to find much info on it.I'm guessing it is late 60's/early 70's. Movement is signed JP Pingouin.Anybody know anything more about this watch?

Opinions on vintage Constellation day/date
Hello all,I'm considering pulling the trigger on this Constellation. I'm a huge fan of Omega and own a GMT 2234.50' a Speedy date, and a Ti Planet Ocean. I've been wanting to add a vintage to the mix and ran across this yesterday.It looks to be in great, unpolished condition, runs, Omega crown, but does not have original strap/buckle. Silver Numbers on New Planet Ocean 8500
I'm kinda on the fence about this. If the numbers are anything like the 39MM Explorer, I think I will be passing on this watch or maybe getting the orange numbers. I don't like it when the numbers disappear when turned in certain light.

preface: i like rolex watches. i own a few of them. i like them all.i gifted a white exp2 (superluminova SEL 3186) to my dad and he likes it.my wife bought a black exp2 (superluminova also) and wears it on a strap as her wrists are too small - she likes it too.until recently, my beater has been a white exp2 (dead tritium non-SEL oysterlock) worn to hell and back.there's a myriad of reasons why i kept my exp2 in the cupboard and got the black seamaster gmt, the details of which i will explain... maybe at a later time, but it has something to do with RSC giving me a lot of grief.anyhow, i note that the seamaster gmt (SM GMT) is usually compared with the rolex gmt master 2. i thought i'd add my own impression of how it compares with an explorer 2 instead.any comments i did not make i probably don't care about (eg, the wavy black omega dial vs a glossy white rolex dial & slightly domed omega sapphire crystal vs flat rolex sapphire crystal - no difference to me as they are both legible
