In-Depth: Twelve Of The Greatest Missing Watches, Including Paul Newman's Paul Newman, John Lennon's Patek Philippe, The Original Moonwatch, And A President's President
The intersection of politics and popular culture with wristwatches is undeniably fascinating. I mean, that's basically why I have a job. Equally fascinating is the pursuit of these timepieces at the center of this interesection by watch collectors, dealers, and auction houses. There are a handful of documented important wrist and pocket watches out there that the world at large is still looking for. What I mean by that is they have not been publicly sold or located, like say Eric Clapton's platinum 2499, Gandhi's Zenith pocket watch, or Steve McQueen's 5512 Submariner (we won't get into his seemingly never ending supply of Monacos), though we know they exist via a blurry old 35mm photograph, or word of mouth. This is a short list of twelve watches that we know to exist, have serious interest in, but have seemingly gone missing. Are we very forgiving ?
After reading many problems and also experiencing some myself, yet I see many are very forgiving. Is the brand loyalty so strong that one overlook real issues? Just my experience and observation.
Ladies Speedmaster
I ran into this watch surfing the net, and my heart went a pitter-patter! Drool..omegawatches/ladies/s...32433384004001 Even after searching a long time on the net, I couldn't find a whole lot of info on the ladies speedmaster, other than the BaselWorld 2010 press releases. For example, I couldn't find anyone from a forum who bought it with feedback, wrist shots, nor could I find anywhere the msrp? Are they selling well? (As far as I understood production on a ladies version begain in 2010). I wonder if the model I'm interested in is hard to find...Anyone own this or seen one up close? Please share any feedback you may have. I'm really considering this as a next purchase. The model I like is the one in the photo: model # 324.33.38.40.04.001.Thanks!!
Is The Thrill is Gone?????
Why does there be to be so little excitement for this brand anymore. Outside of the hardcore devotees, it seems the brand is almost viewed negatively these days. Aftermarket prices, certainly reflecting the lack of interest.Would love to get some thoughts from the hardcore Panera lovers. I've always enjoyed these great timepieces.
