Hublot To Offer Scratch Resistant "Magic Gold" Watches
Hublot will be adding a new material to its "art of fusion" parts bin which they call "Magic Gold." Magic gold is a special 18k gold and ceramic alloy which offers the look and feel of 18k gold with the incredibly high scratch resistance of ceramic materials. Many people who currently own gold watches will likely be very excited about this.Gold is an incredibly popular material for high-end watches marred only by its softness (and perhaps price these days). Watch cases in gold are already not pure gold in order for them to have a slightly tougher alloy. But anyone who has worn an 18k gold watch will testify that the material picks up nicks and scratches with incredible ease.18k gold often has a little "750" stamped in it. This number indicates the percentage of actual gold per 1000 parts in the material. For gold to be 18k it must be 750 parts per 1000 as I understand it. It is logical to ask whether or not magic gold meets this number or is less given the ceramic compounds. According

Introducing: The Girard-Perregaux Laureato 2016 (Could This Be The Watch That Puts GP Back On Top?)
If there were a special Academy (or whomever) Award for most underappreciated watch brand, at least in the U.S., I am pretty sure that Girard-Perregaux would be on the list. At least on paper, they tick all the boxes – great in-house movements (that have been found, over the years, in one form or another, in a lot of other brands’ watches) and a fantastic history, as well as some very iconic designs. Part of the problem is that one of their most recognized, and recognizable, watches is very much at the high end: the Three Golden Bridges Tourbillon, and its variations; another part of the problem is that they’ve never really had a breakout, long-lived modern success that’s become ubiquitous in the same way as, say, the Submariner, or the Tudor Black Bay, or the Royal Oak. And yet, they do have a watch in their history that could very easily become that watch for the brand: the Laureato, which they've relaunched this year, in near-exact reproduction of the fir
A Rolex I'd buy in 2018
I'd buy immediately an Explorer I with date, cyclops, and red date numbers. Better yet if with the new movement. What would you run to your AD for...?
Got a voice mail from my AD...
Hi guys,I got back and from 6 weeks long vacation in South East Asia and got a voice mail a day before Thanksgiving saying that my SD43 is at the AD ready to be picked up. Today I called my favorite AD and asked if the watch is still available since it has been 3 weeks ago when they left the message. Well, they told me so many people has asked for this SD43 but they keep for me even the supply on SS sport watches is very very tight...So looks like I am to pick it up later this weekend. It's good that it's a 2017 SD43 so it's a real 50th Anv Sea Dweller, next year who knows LOL/Just kidding :)
