I was flattered by this article on DeepGlamour.net. The article mentioned me a few times and included a few quotes. Randall at DeepGlamour.net had an idea to comment on the effect that watches have on people and their image aside from style. I chose this image of Alexander the Great to sum up his sentiments on what certain watches are all about. The theme was discussing the concepts of "Status, Power, and Conquest" in relation to watches. You can read the article here, and I think you'll appreciate the gist of what he has to say. Although not the same era, here is a Roman inspired watch by Italian watch maker Zannetti watches. This model is called the Gladiatore Imperio. Is a preowned Royal oak 15300 in good shape without box or papers worth $9,600 plus tax? thanks :)

Incoming AP RO 15300
Recently got the AP bug after spending time on the AP sub-forum here..Got the 15300 on order, 39mm black dial with bracelet, which i think pays tribute well to the original RO design by Gerald Genta. I am fascinated with both designs by him, the other being the Nautilus 5711/1a which i am hoping to get few years down the road and hopefully that being the last piece in the crazy watch chase.Currently having Pams, Rolexes, Omegas and assorted brands but this is the first AP. The hexagonal design of the bezel is the feature that sets it of for me. and i prefer the version of the RO to be closer to the original design so i am not so hot on the ROOs for now (hopefully for a long long while so i do not have to spend on expanding the AP collection). Also believe that sizes in respective brands should stay the way they were originally designed, i.e. Rolex sports 40mm, PAMs at 44/47mm, AP 37/39mm. Base design/dimensions are good and will stay true to the purist even as sizes grown and shrink,

New to me . . this little thing
Owner of many many Pams since early 2000s . . but lost the excitement with the brand (like many others have unfortunately). Also, decided that 47mm was not for me anymore and sold my last Pam 372 a year or so ago. Despite this I would always say Panerai is my favorite watch brand and the 372 was possibly my favorite watch I've owned. I'm not financially fortunate enough to keep lots of watches in a safe deposit, never to be worn, so it had to go. Anyway, moving on... I've always quite fancied the 512 since it came out. When I got the opportunity to have one at the right price I grabbed it. They are quite rare in the UK for some reason. Very few come up for sale. Enjoying wearing this one. So 'svelte', hardly know you have it on but still has enough Panerai presence. Loving the manual wind . . and then there's being back in the strap changing game !

Luminescent Stick Markers
Hi everyone. I'm new Rolex owner and new to the forum. I have read some interesting discussion already. I have a question.Just today, I bought a Datejust 36 from an AD. I dealt directly with the store owner. One of the things he told me that helped me make the decision to buy this watch was that it had luminescent markers. Mine are not luminescent and I very disappointed. Should I bring this to the attention of the owner? What recourse does he have for me other than telling me he made a mistake and is sorry. I would appreciate input from this group. I will call him tomorrow if that is what would help. I sure am disappointed in what a beautiful watch that has been a dream of mine for years.
