Corum Golden Bridge for Only Watch 2011
Corum is pursuing its commitment on behalf of research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy and creating a new unique piece to be included in the Only Watch 2011 auction: a Golden Bridge Automatic presented with a Titalyt-treated titanium case housing a white gold baguette movement with automatic linear winding. This one-of-a-kind watch is inspired by a new model presented at Baselworld this year, the Golden Bridge Automatic. Corum presents its new baguette movement with automatic winding in a unique titanium case, coated with an anthracite colored Titalyt treatment. The new Corum Caliber C0313, an automatic linear-winding baguette movement, required over four years of development and testing to perfect. Equipped with a linear oscillating weight made in platinum and visible from all four sides of the case, along with a slipping spring mechanism, this Golden Bridge movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) with a 40-hour power reserve. This 194-part caliber is also fit
Rolex GMT-Master II Black & Blue And Rolex Daytona Platinum At Baselworld 2013
We're here at Baselworld 2013 and Rolex has shown off a couple of new model iterations including a platinum Rolex Daytona and this black and blue colored Rolex GMT-Master II. Essentially just?a new color variation of the current Rolex GMT-Master II range, this new version employs a two color cerachrom bezel insert (a first for Rolex)?in a day/night arrangement of?blue and black.Still sized to 40mm and powered by the Rolex Calibre 3186, this new model is little more than an additional color choice for buyers looking for some of that classic Pam Am panache. Rolex announcements are a big deal at the BaselWorld and crowds formed quickly when the new models were displayed outside of Rolex's booth. Onlookers seemed to have mixed feelings about the mostly-cosmetic updates and the lack of a specific 50th anniversary piece for the legendary Rolex Daytona.Alongside the black and blue Rolex GMT-Master II is a new blue and brown platinum?Rolex Daytona. This is not the Rolex Daytona that many were
Girard-Perregaux Constant Escapement Watch
"Constant Escapement" sounds like the marketing slogan for an all-inclusive vacation resort somewhere. "What you truly seek is constant escapement..." It is true, like other hobbies in life, high-end watches are a constant distraction, and offer some nice escape when wound properly. What?Girard-Perregaux?actually means is "constant force escapement" - which is really what this new high-end technically-astute timepiece is all about. In this watch are clues to the future of the brand as well as insight as to what Switzerland's top watch makers are currently working on. The Constant Escapement doesn't do anything new, but it does do some existing things in a fresh new way. What we've been noticing lately from Girard-Perregaux is a rather distinct rejection of its own aesthetic codes. For a while, Girard-Perregaux was all about "classic and timeless" - with good looking retro-inspired pieces and a relative negligence of their sport watch collections. This was them taking the vintage watch c
Speedmaster 57 Retro
I haven't seen anyone talking about this model which is surprising because I think it's one of the best watches from Basel this year.I loved the Speedmaster 57 when they first introduced it two years ago, but the lack of the broad arrow hour hand definitely bothered me. They called it the 57, but it lacked identity. I liked that they used it in the sub dial, but thought it would have been better as the hour hand. I also didn't like the PCLs which have also been changed for this version. Now the center links are brushed and the outer thinner links are polished. They have addressed those concerns, but they made another design choice that I'm conflicted about.Vintage Lume.I'm conflicted because I think this version looks fantastic. The black dial and the tan color of the lume look great together. I also like how the lume areas are recessed instead of applied indices. The problem is that forced vintage looks which is obviously what they are going for.Not in stores until July, but from what
