New patinated dial and handsTwo news items from watch maker ochs und junior - a new moonphase look and a sweeping rename of the models. Since it's brief, we will deal with the rename first. Previously, their watches had evocative names like 'Selene' for moon phase, which probably caused confusion. The line is now renamed according to what they're calling 'time horizons.'Very prosaic and practical. Should make it easier to shop their collection.The other news is the new dial on the moon phase, seen above. The new dial is brass, patinated using a sculpture restoration technique that turns it dark grey. Once that's done, they mill out the indices, moon and date dot to reveal the brass beneath.The hands are also brass, satinized instead of patina finsihed, with a hand-painted second hand. Gotta love that attention to detail.And of course, part of the appeal of the moon phase is the mechanism. Only five parts, and the most accurate in a watch. After a bumpy ride flipping watchesRolex Datejust 16030Rolex Datejust 6605Omega Speedmaster Reduced Cart seriesRolex Datejust 116200Rolex Datejust 16014Rolex Explorer II 16570Rolex Datejust 16200First I bought a Seiko Arctura Chrono, I am going to South America this summer for about six weeks, didn't want to take any risks with a watch, It is surprisingly accurate, within 1 second a month.It was time for me to look for a compromise between rugged, GMT, Chrono and a little stylish.I decided to buy a Breitling Chronomat Longitude Chronometer A23048 in the completely brushed finish.The lume is like Radio-active, it glows like a torch.The bracelet is really comfortable though rather nasty to size when never handled before.The saphire is crazy, when seen from upfront it seems there's no saphire at all, just a dial.Everything on this watch feels firm and sturdy though it's a little high on the wrist.Now I am going to enjoy it, here's a little picture of it, next few days i'll make some sweet

GMT... TT vs TT...
GMT is at the top of my want list right now and can't decide, need your guys help... do I go with the older 116713LN (yg/ss/black dial/green text + gmt hand) or the newer 126711CHNR Rootbeer? I'm genuinely torn as the 116713LN was something I'd wanted for ages- I just love that green text and gmt hand against the black dial-, but the new Rootbeer has seriously piqued my interest now- I love black and brown. At first I wasn't sure about everose (rose gold) with stainless, but it has really grown on me, plus I don't think the brown/black bezel would work with yellow gold. My dream GMT is the 116718LN, but is much past my budget for the time being... wonder what sort of discount an AD could offer on that one... Anyways, help me decide, guys! FWIW, I was told October for the new TT GMT- I'm happy to wait until then if that's the one I decide on... as of right now it's a perfect 50/50, they're both so great!
