Affordable Vintage: O&W Caribbean 1000
As you well know, there are tons and tons of vintage divers out there, something for everyone's taste. With that said, there are some that stand out from the crowd a bit, and the Ollech and Wajs Caribbean 1000 is one of them. Ollech and Wajs (O&W) made a plethora of great divers and chronographs in their heyday in the sixties and seventies, but by far the most desirable is the Caribbean 1000. O&W teamed up with the Jenny Watch company and used their reference 702 case for this model. Jenny made several cases that were branded with a variety of different makes just like the EPSA Super Compressor and Squale case makers. The O&W Caribbean was only made for a few short years during the mid to late 1960's. Finally the Proud Papa of a Patek Phillipe! Like I said earlier Happy #$% Birthday to me!Just wanted to say a BIG THANKS to all on here who responded to my earlier query and/or PM'd me with recommendations. Thanks to a wonderful referral here on the forum I was able to find and purchase through an AD. The AD very kindly shipped everything in the PP factory sealed packaging. The watch was actually in a separate plastic pouch from the box. But what kinda impressed me was that the box was very carefully wrapped in white tissue paper.The dealer added some Patek Phillipe literature, a nice touch....Yay! Still can't quite believe it. Since I'm GMT-4 I think 4pm local looks quite cool...like it almost forms a perfect triangle of time.So, fun fact (at least to me)...I was admiring my date correction pen/stylus or whatever it's called....(side note, watch had some tool marks around the 3-4 o'clock position of the brushed bezel just kinda visible in this photo...kind of a weird bumm

I'm hoping to get some thoughts and opinions on this...My collection is full of stainless steel, titanium, platinum, and white gold. I don't have a single piece in yellow gold (or rose gold for that matter, although I don't think rose gold works well with my skin tone). I've caught the bug for something in YG. I don't think I'll end up having multiple watches in YG though. I'm thinking this would be something to fill a gap in the collection, and for when I want that occasional extra pop of yellow gold. I got very close to pulling the trigger on a 116718LN with the black dial. Right now, that's my front runner. Although I just inherited a 16753 (two tone GMT on jubilee), so I thought it might be overkill to have both of those. If you were to only have one yellow gold watch, what would it be?I'll go ahead and rule out a DD, since I have one in platinum, and I just don't think I want another. And, it doesn't necessarily have to be Rolex.Thoughts? Advice?
