Baselworld 2015: New Hamilton Ventura “Elvis80” and Worldtimer Chrono (Updated with Live Photos)
Among the new Hamilton watches released at the world’s biggest watch fair this week: the Hamilton Ventura Elvis80, in honor of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s 80th birthday; and the Hamilton Chrono Worldtimer, an aviator-friendly new world-time watch.Elvis Presley who would have turned 80 years old this year, on January 8 famously wore a Hamilton Ventura watch in the 1961 movie Blue Hawaii. Afterward, that timepiece, which was introduced in 1957 as the world’s first “electric watch” and distinguished by its avant-garde triangular case, became widely known as the “Elvis watch.” Hamilton’s new version of the Ventura embraces its connection with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and even includes a nod to the 80th-birthday motif: Hamilton has outfitted it with the recently introduced Hamilton H-10 movement, which carries an estimable power reserve of 80 hours. The Hamilton Ventura Elvis80 carries all of the classic Ventura de

It's back!
Greetings TRF,It is with a lot of pride and joy that I tell you that I got my vintage Audemars Piguet back from my watchmaker tonight. When I bought it I was very happy until I realized that it had a small problem......Indeed, with its dial on top the balance wheel would slow down and eventually stop, thus making the watch impossible to wear for a full day. Normally I would have worked on it myself, I did service my Jaeger-Lecoultre and quite a few other watches of mine, however, after thinking about it I thought that it would be better to ask an experience watchmaker with a good reputation to service such a thin movement. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to do it myself and I do need to build up confidence but with such a caliber I figured it would be better to be safe than sorry...Now my pictures aren't very good as they're dark but believe me, the movement is much cleaner than it was when I got it (I was going to have it cleaned anyway but this small balance wheel problem made

VERSUS: 5-Digit Sub and GMT
Ninth edition of the VERSUS post/picture. What is VERSUS? Well, I thought it would be fun to compare two watches (and only those two watches) and discuss pros/cons by outlining the differences and getting folks' ideas/thoughts/opinions on TRF. We got folks here that have been collecting and studying these things for decades all the way to those who are just starting to venture into the crazy world of Rolex (and everyone in between). Therefore, it would be fun and educational! For this edition, we have a showdown of a couple similar yet different 5-digit sport models. The Submariner 16610 and the GMT 16710.Which do you prefer and why?Previous VERSUS:1. VERSUS: Submariner 1680 v. 166102. VERSUS: Rolex Submariner and Sea-Dweller 16610LV and 1266003.
