Linde Werdelin Oktopus II Double Date Titanium Blue Dive Watch
Linde Werdelin likes to call themselves a watch lab. The notion suggests an image of scientists sitting around in a white room dreaming up the next cool timepiece. Is this sexy sounding concept true? Yes actually, but Linde Werdelin is not alone in their experimentation. Most small brands have lab style product development processes which eventually lead to final products. How does it work and why is it a good idea?I appreciate that Linde Werdelin has decided it makes sense to explicitly state what many brands don't discuss - that they take peer review into strict consideration when finalizing their watches. It has been more or less promised to myself and other watch writers that whatever we view at watch shows such as Baselworld are unfinished prototypes. Brands like Linde Werdelin produce close to reality experimental designs that they share with reviewers and retailers before pieces are produced for sale. Suggestions and feedback go into the final products - which is exactly what ha
Hands-On: Zenith Launches A Suite Of Three New High Complications In New Materials (Including A Platinum Hurricane)
Zenith has just announced that three of its most complicated watches, which premiered this year in new case materials, are now available – and we had a chance recently to go hands-on with the new models, and gather some first impressions of these very exotic and very rarely seen timepieces. The new models are a limited edition platinum version of the Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Georges-Favret Jacot, and titanium versions of the Academy Georges Favret-Jacot (with fusée and chain) and the El Primero Tourbillon. 1 OF 12 Above, Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Georges Favret-Jacot in platinum The Academy Georges Favret-Jacot was launched, as we reported last year, for the firm’s 150th anniversary and is named for Zenith’s founder, Georges Favret-Jacot, who founded the firm in Le Locle in 1865 at the age of 22. The Academy Georges Favret-Jacot is a technically very interesting watch; it combines a high-frequency escapement (36,00
BLNR for 15400?
Hi all! Looking for a little guidance and opinion here. Was recently in Miami this past week, and found my way over to the Bal Harbour Shops to check out the AP, IWC, FP Journe and Tourneau boutiques. I've always been a Rolex guy, and really have only been a 1 or 2 watch-at-any-given time guy too. I just like the simplicity; so right now I have a Speedy on NATO and a GMT BLNR that I just picked up.Now, on to the situation: never did I think that an AP would call to me like the 15400 did in the boutique. I tried it on in black and white, as well as the 15202 in white. I didn't love, the 15202, surprisingly. I thought I would, but since I'm a bigger, more muscular guy with big 7 wrists, it looked too small. Once I put on the 15400 it sang to me though - the size, the geometric shape, the extremely comfortable bracelet, the display back, the 60 hr reserve, etc. When I got back home, I called my local AD to get some numbers on the BLNR trade in for a 15400, and he quoted me $6.5k out of p
