Patrizzi to Auction Historic Original Breguet Manuscripts on May 7
On May 7 in Geneva, Patrizzi & Co. will auction a historic manuscript written between 1818 and 1823, during the last years of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s life. The document, which recently resurfaced, chronicles Breguet’s horological innovations, the history of his firm, watch calibers and complications, and his overall philosophy and designs. Breguet dictated the text to his assistant Louis Moinet and edited and noted corrections by hand. Breguet died in 1823 before it could be completed. “It is hard to stress the importance of this event to the world and more specifically to the horological world,” said Osvaldo Patrizzi, chairman and CEO of Patrizzi & Co. “These are the writings of the master of horology, the knowledge his lifetime C from which we can learn many details that we have until today only been able to speculate on. It will change watchmaking history.”The 354-page unbound manuscript is divided into seven lots. The Breguet lots are est

Any love for the 5980?
I'm looking to switch up from a ROO for my chrono beater and noticed pricing on used 5980's are pretty good for the steel models. I really like the blue dial and the slate dial (almost like this one more because of the black date wheel). Wondering what thoughts on the forum are for this....Back in 2012 I wasn't a fan of this piece and picked up a 15202 and 5712 instead....I just thought it was too fat and thick for a proper Nautilus. But a coworker got one and I'm interested in what the thoughts are on it now that it's no longer in production but really easy to find.
Wait or buy?
Hi all, as you know I just got a 5726 today, and already have a 5712-1A, basically it's the only 2 nice watches I have, flipped my RG Daytona and the Hulk.My question is, my 2 PP are not really beaters, before I always had a sub or something of the sort, I plan on MAYBE getting, not sure, a 5167R in a few years, I know it's not a beater, I was thinking either get a 114060 (non date sub) and that would be my trio, or just wearing my old Omega for swimming and sports and just get a 5167R when I can, I would swim with it and practice non violent sports.Knowing that I found it not very comfortable to wear heavy watches like a sub recently, exact opposite before I needed to feel the watch, not the case since I got my 5712, so do you think I should get the sub and flip it when/IF I get the 5167R, or just wear my Omega? Here's a few pics of the Omega. Thanks in advance for your repliesP1000729.JPGP1000730.JPG
Biggest Rolex Store in US Has No Sports Models
So, I walk into the massive Rolex boutique in NYC this afternoon, the one that’s in the same building that houses the U.S. Rolex headquarters .... and not one steel sports model was available, and only a couple of yellow gold models. No Subs of any sort, no Deep Seas, GMTs, no Explorers or IIs, and of course no Daytonas or the new SD. Nothing. Just hundreds of other models, such as DJs, DDs, and women’s watches. Sales rep told me they won’t get any more until after Christmas. Not sure if that’s BS or not, but it seems insane that the stock at the biggest store/dealer in the U.S., which I believe is run by Wempe, doesn’t have any basic sports models heading into the holiday buying season. I knew this was going on in Europe, but I assumed you could still get a steel Sub, for example, with relative ease at a dealer. I assume it’s like this elsewhere across the U.S. Go figure.
