Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Deadbeat Watch
It is funny how trends develop in the watch world, especially for relatively high-end, obscure complications. Once strange and relatively unique, the dead beat seconds complication is having a veritable renaissance perpetuated first by the more hip independent watch makers and now entering the mainstream of high luxury timepiece creations. For 2015,?Jaquet Droz gets on the dead beat seconds hand wagon with a new version of the Grande Seconde called the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Deadbeat. What is a deadbeat seconds complication? For those who don't already know, it is simply explained by saying that it is a ticking seconds hand in a mechanical watch. Ticking seconds hands are normally reserved for quartz watches C at least that is how they are known in more modern watches. Historically, however, ticking seconds hands existed on certain high precision clocks sometimes known as regulator clocks. These clocks were used in scientific labs or to help regulate the time of other clocks. Tickin
15400 vs 15300 and availability in Dallas or Houston
I'm fairly confident I want to flip my Daytona for a RO. The only problem is...which one? Also, I cannot find a 15300, or even a 15202 for a 39mm size, to try on anywhere in Dallas! Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look? I go to Houston every now and then, so I'd be okay with any suggestions there.I think I'm more of a fan of the dial on the 15400 and colored date wheel, but I still want to see the 15300.My wrist can really support any of them, but I'd love to get opinions of the Forum. Below are wrist shots of the 15400, 15450, and a shot of the daytona and how it looks on my arm. The 15450 isn't under consideration, but it offers some perspective.
Should I let it go?
Since the arrival of two classic Rolex models, an M/3186 GMT Master II and an M-series Sea-Dweller, my Liquidmetal PO has been getting very little wrist time. So little, that this week I began thinking of putting it on the market.I kept asking myself how I could justify having two black divers. After all, when the PO arrived, I sold my treasured 2254.50. Selling the Liquidmetal would permit fulfilling my goal of an M-series trifecta with the addition of the Datejust I have been considering. So this morning, I put the LM on my wrist for perhaps the last time.Fr. BLNR - Rubber B installed
So I got my strap and Bergeon 7825 today. What a different watch now. Went from sporty/classy with the PCL's to full on sport. Two completely different watches. At first I didn't know if I liked the strap. I am use to the oyster. After a couple hours I like it now. Definitely not incognito with the blue. Stunning from far away and on another persons wrist. Had my gf try it on. Rubber B impressions - color match is almost perfect. The texture and feel of the band is stellar. Still overpriced in my mind, but definitely not cheap feeling in anyway. Sizing is small - third hole from end just makes it under second keeper (sort of tight). Second hole is loose and doesn't go under second keeper, but doesn't move around. Of course I am in between holes. Very comfortable either way. Bergeron 7825 - seems well built, but ends don't have much to wrap around spring bar. The sharp part is almost not there like on a normal spring bar tool. Made it easier to take off, but still easy to scra
