My First Grail Watch: Christian Bedat Of Bedat & Co. And RED8
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Christian Bedat, founder of RED8, who quite literally grew up in the industry, and wraps things up with a great bit of life advice.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Christian Bedat: I was born in the industry - I'm the son of the late Simone Bedat, who founded Raymond Weil and then helped me manage Bedat & Co. I grew up in the industry and spent my youth in factories and the worldwide market. The passion grew slowly to become part of my personality. I can now say that, at the age of 50, I have over 40 years of experience.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?Christian Bedat: Again, at young ages, spending time around watch people from all fields. I attended my first Basel fair as a child at the age of 7,
My 4th Omega in 3 months?
It all stared a couple of months ago when I sold my Omega America's Cup on TZ to Charlie Hustle (who is VERY happy with it!) I then purchased a beautiful Aqua Terra white face with rose gold markers on TZ and I really liked that beautiful co-axial movement I admired through the exhibition caseback but it just did not smile at me... sold it again on TZ and then it was time to buy the classic SMP Chrono which I got almost like new you guessed it... on TZ. I was looking for another classic to add to my humble collection when along came Dapper Dan with a GMT 50th Anniversary for sale on TZ... which I am now the proud owner of!Here are the pics guys hope you like them and more will follow once the watch is in my possession... Omega has definitely become my new obsession!
Ladies Aquanaut has Quartz movement??
So I was showing my wife some Patek's and she actually really liked the 5067 Ladies Aquanaut- it has diamonds around the bezel. I'm thinking that would be really cool because on occasion we could both wear our Aquanauts. I went to the Patek site and discovered it has a quartz movement. Why do you think this is? I'm guessing maybe it has a smaller case? Is a battery change something I could do or would I have to send to a dealer? Surely I wouldn't have to send to Henri Stern, would I? Anyone with experience with a quartz Patek? Thanks in advance!
Been away, is it the time to sell....
Was considering selling my used 114060 to do some expansions with my business, seems like there are very little SS models for sale and I also saw a post about Rolex pulling back, whats going on? Just hyperbole?steve
Which one should I Keep?
I wish to go down to just one from these three lovely Rolex. The reason for the change is that I wish to fund another purchase but I don't want this to affect which one people would keep from the three below. While I accept the Daytona would by itself raise nearly as much as the other two, I also wish to have two nice Rolex, one of these and the new purchase hence why I wish to go down to one - my AD will get a surprise in the new year when I turn up for it! Please put aside anything apart from which you like best and which you would keep and think will be the best to live with for many years to come side by side with one more Rolex. 1. BLNR 2016 - bought new2. Submariner 2010 16610 - bought nos3. Daytona Ceramic white dial - bought new and paid retail
