Really like the Speedmaster, but what about water resistance?
Hi all,I have really taken a liking to the Omega's even though I am a Rolex kind of guy. The Omega Speedmaster really is a nice piece as far as looks (though I have never actually tried one on). I am looking into getting one, but I often spend time in the water (or with my hand in my coral reef aquarium). My question is this: I have read that the Speedmaster has a depth rating of 30m/100ft, is that rating meant for me to actually swim with it? (I have checked out the chart in the sticky) What about submersing it for only a few seconds at a time in a saltwater fish tank? I can't be bothered with taking my watch on and off every time I need to stick my hand in my tank (which is often). I just wanted some insight from those of you who have either used in such an environment, or those of you who have worked on them and understand their real world ratings. Thanks much!Ed

Rolex Tudor Servicing Cost
Hi there! I recently inherited a Cotton Bowl Classic Rolex/Tudor Day-Date (7017/0) (autowinding) from my Grandfather who was on the Nebraska coaching staff for the 1974 Cotton Bowl. To my knowledge, the watch has either never been worn or was very seldomly worn. This also means that I don't believe it has been serviced since 1974. I fully wound it and the second hand works perfectly, but the minute and hour hands run very slow. I know almost nothing about watches, but I'm wondering if anyone on here can help me with a ballpark estimate of what I should expect to spend to have it properly serviced. I'd like to avoid getting taken to the cleaners due to my lack of experience. Thanks in advance for your replies!Ben
New DJ II From AD - Opinion ??
Hi all, I'm new here. I haven't had a Rolex in 5+ years and don't have any collection currently. I have been itching to get back in and prefer the DJ 2 over the new 41. Sadly so it seems SS models are in crazy demand and with this model being discontinued for some time there isn't a whole lot to come by. I have always purchased my watches from a local trusted seller but never an AD. I want to keep these watches for the long haul and think the AD route may be beneficial so I am asking what you guys think regarding a discount knowing the above. DJ 2 Fluted SS black stick dial msrp $9100 - 13% discount selling $7900 shipped to my office. In the past I have only been a 20%+ strike price guy but with the current situation I know there's better out there but I haven't had any luck finding it from an AD. Heck even the 2nd market is close in price. What do you guys think and can anyone help with a better deal from an AD?P.S. I was offered 17% off on the rhodium diamond but I didn't
