New Manufacture Movement Powers Calibre de Cartier
At SIHH last week, Cartier introduced a new in-house automatic movement known as 1904-PS MC. It powers the new men’s Calibre de Cartier line. The movement features twin barrels to provide a steady flow of power to the escapement, and the regulation system allows for fine adjustment to increase timekeeping accuracy. A stop-seconds system facilitates synchronization to a reference signal. Cartier also paid close attention to the winding system. Ceramic ball bearings at the center of the rotor ensure excellent shock resistance and durability. Cartier abandoned reversers in favor of a pawl system to speed winding, and a bi-directional full-size rotor assures maximum winding efficiency. The movement measures 25.6mm in diameter and 4mm thick and it beats at 28.800 vph. The power reserve is 48 hours. The rotor and upper bridges are finished with traditional C?tes de Genve, and the main plate, which is hidden from view, is circular-grained.The Calibre de Cartier case measures 42mm in di
Your general perception of the offshore line?
Rolex Forums tells me I have been on a 4 year 2 month hiatus (!) but god knows how much longer it could have been had it not been for this gem of a purchase.I've always been interested in AP as a brand and their legacy, and further research inevitably brought up the infamy of the Royal Oak Offshore as a celebrity watch, to be used as a mere party piece more than anything else. Personally the offshore line does have quite a number of over-the-top limited edition models, but the 'standard' 44mm designs (SS, CF, RG) seem to blend sportiness with elegance perfectly fine. I'd buy a 42mm but the arabic numerals on the chronographs just seemed too messy; the diver being an exception. It sounds very much like a horological spin-off of the Bentley Continental's appeal with the rich and famous, but the Bentley ain't a bad car at all. Does the ROO deserve such stick, especially when compared with the other classic models in the range, as well as other luxury sports watches?Otherwise you could give
I cannot believe what I brought home today!
I know it's been discontinued for a few years now, but I was able to source a BNIB 2254.50...I'm really excited to have this to go with my Rolex 116610LN and 16610LV....thank God for His financial blessings! Haven't even had a chance to change the date or have it sized yet.How difficult is it to size myself or should I take it to my local AD?Here's the ceremonial picture!
