Watch Case Materials Explained: Titanium
Please welcome Mr. ?lker ?zcan who will collaborate with aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer on a few articles discussing materials and processes used in watch cases and other components. Ozcan is a professional Materials Engineer and owns a small R&D company (ndsgnwatches-dealer) - and he loves mechanical watches and loves the exotic materials used in those watches. The purpose of this article series is to enlighten watch lovers about many aspects of watch materials so that everyone can make more educated decisions about the watches they are buying. Now on to Mr. Ozcan:In this first article I have chosen to start with Titanium. Titanium has recently become very popular in high-end watches, and it is not without reason. For me, titanium is the best overall engineering metal ever! Is it however the best material for a watch case? Let's take a look...We engineers measure many properties to evaluate materials. Introducing: The New Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Reference 26574 (Details, Official Pricing)
Audemars Piguet has released a new take on one of its most popular model, the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. The latest iteration follows the release of the last QP wristwatch in 2012 with an upgraded and upsized movement, a slightly more complicated display, clearer dial, and larger case size. All details below. 1 OF 6 The Reference 26574.1220 comes in four different versions, two in stainless steel and two in rose gold with either a navy blue or silvered "Grande Tapisserie" dial. Due to the enlarged case size (now 41mm up from 39mm), the dial and its indications are more legible. Dial display includes: day, date, astronomical moon, month, leap year, and now the 52 weeks of the year displayed on an outer chapter ring via an third center-mounted hand. 2 OF 63 OF 6 4 OF 65 OF 6 The new automatic caliber 5134 movement, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, is slightly larger (to accommodate the new case) than the earlier caliber 2120

Thoughts on the Aqua Terra Good Planet?
I've never owned an Omega, but have been curious as it's quite a storied history, etc... So, I had to drop a watch off for service and stopped by the Omega dealer and tried on a few and can't stop thinking about the 43mm Good Planet GMT, white dial with red accents. Does anyone own this watch and if so, what are your thoughts? Also, I tried on the 41.5mm Aqau Terra Omega Master, blue dial and love that one too. Both look great on the bracelet, but I think the blue straps look great too. So, any thoughts or recommendations from any that might own one or both, or any insight at all on Omega would be helpful. Thanks!
