2012/2013 Collections Catalog is a Must Have!!!
Our dear friends at AP left the only one they had with them for me during the Inside Basel event here in Chicago. This catalog is an absolute beauty and a must have for any AP collector. Some quick iPhone shots.
Is this normal for a new Royal Oak?
I just purchased this new Royal Oak Dual Time, I am absolutely in love with the watch. And I hope that this will be the first of many AP purchases. One thing that is bugging me about the watch, is the the AP Logo on the clasp sticks out while it's on my wrist, doesn't matter what position my hand is in, it extends out, I want to know if this is normal, or is this a defect? It is still under warranty, so I don't think that will be an issue, but if it's part of the design, I can get used to it, any help would be appreciated.
How many regulation does it take?
A watchmaker serviced my Omega SMP and said it was slow by 20sec/day. In order to correct the problem, he replaced the balance wheel, escapement, and 2 jewels. When I got it back, it was running 1min/day slow. I took it back for a regulating and now it is 30sec/day slow. Is there a settling in period when a watch receives new parts and lubrication which requires many regulations in order to get it on time? Thanks.

Growing up in Houston, my father was in the Oil & Gas business and every year he would have colleagues in town from all over the world for the OTC (Offshore Technology Conference). I loved it because there was always a large formal party at our house (perfect excuse to stay up late). That particular year I remember, because I had just bought my first watch (well parents bought half, I bought other half of the $15 watch) a Texas Instruments LED push button watch--very cool to me. I remember showing my new watch to a very good friend of my fathers, and I asked him what he was wearing and he said ‘Patek Philippe’. Now at the time that meant nothing more to me than my fathers name was Phillip and he joked with me saying it was named after my dad (and I never forgot that). Fast forward 8 years to college when I bought my first Rolex Sub (saved every penny) and over the next 20 years o
