F.P. Journe Octa Sport Watch
F.P. Journe is really pushing aluminum as its sport watch material of course. I've written in the past about not understanding why they would choose aluminum, which is a soft and easily dented metal for a super high-end luxury watch. It is very light, and I guess they like the quirk. Titanium has really usurped most aluminum use, but I think aluminum is still technically a bit lighter (just not stronger). The watch is just 53 grams in weight. According to F.P. Journe they used "high technology aluminum" (which is apparently the same used in Aeronautics). So like fragile race cars F.P. Journe's sport watches are nice to look at with good performance but you don't want to hit things with it. The watch even has bumpers on the sides. This concept started with the first F.P. Journe sport watch which was last year's Centigraphe Sport (seen below, and priced super high). Oh, and they call their sport collection the "lineSport" collection. It does wreak of a certain disdain for English, whereby
Power reserve question on the 5131R.
Hi folks hope everyone is having a great weekend..Just wanted to ask a question with regards to power reserve on my 5131R caliber 240 HU. I noticed when I wind it initially 10-15 times and wear it for a few hours then put it down the next day it stops after around 18-24hrs. Now reading the manual it sais a fully wound watch will have a reserve of around 48hrs.Am I right in thinking that to fully wind the watch it has to be wound and worn for many hours to get a reserve of 48hrs or so?? Is it normal to wind it and wear for say 4-5 hours and not get anywhere near 48hrs power reserve?? Hope that all makes sense..
5711 Nautilus through the years
For all the Nautilus experts and enthusiasts our there,What, if any, is the difference between say a 2006 nautilus vs a new one? Have they changed anything or is it more or less the same watch. Is the blue the same tone? I've never seen one in real life and they all look the same as I look at pics online. I'm just wondering as I've seen a couple pop up on classifieds here as well as other trusted sellers' sites that have been years older. I know new ones are tough to get ahold of, even in the US here. As always thanks for the feedback
reference codes
Hello TRF membersI have noticed that on the 2017 & 2018 DJ 41 models that there are two different reference codes with them being 126331 and 126334 same watch but what is the difference between the two? Does it have anything to do with the power reserve like one being a 48 hour and the other a 70 hour reserve? Thanks for your help.Dan
Don't eat the yellow snow
Just a warning for the weekend. And as one person said; ?Don’t you eat that yellow snow, that’s where the huskies go?. Classic winter weather and a classic untouched, sharp Submariner - with classic proportions.
