Watch Experts Network: ‘Strap maker workshop by DStrap’
With our recurring reviews on watch straps it was great to see local Dutch watch strap maker Olaf Lugten from Dstrap, announce the worlds first strap maker workshop'. After getting in touch we were one of the lucky few to join Olaf for this master class (as we like to call it) that took takes place in his workshop in Alkmaar. After being welcomed we all did a quick introduction about ourselves, followed by Olaf kicking off his master class, doing so by explaining why he started making his own straps and what motivates him to do it the way he does. In short it was the lack of quality that he was expecting and the missing buyer experience when buying after market watch straps in general. And at some point he started working on his own, all hand made straps and several years later his company DStrap was a fact. While showing some of his straps he points out some easy to recognise and typical DStrap traits are incorporated into his straps thus leaving his signature on each and every one.Ol
Ball Watch Co. Engineer Hydrocarbon Magnate
Ball claims its new EH Magnate is built around a single objective: to create a utilitarian watch designed for people who demand optimal reliability. It delivers on that count, and adds into the bargain a COSC-certified chronometer movement and the Ball Watch reputation for ruggedness and excellent nighttime legibility. Find wallpaper and pricing inside. The Magnate Chronograph is powered by the automatic-winding Ball 2050 movement (ETA 2824 base) with a chronograph module and date display. The movement has earned an official chronometer certificate from the Contr?le Officiel Suisse des Chronomtres (COSC), as confirmed by the chronometer inscription on the dial. The Magnate measures 40mm in diameter and 14.85mm thick. Ball claims shock resistance to 5000 Gs and anti-magnetic resistance to 4,800A/m.The twin sub-dials indicate continuous seconds at 3 o'clock and a 45 minutes counter at 9 o'clock which is used in conjunction with the chronograph center seconds. The stainless steel case h
Movement Hands-On Series Episode 3: The Revolutionary Eterna Caliber 39
The Eterna Caliber 39 is one of the most interesting developments to come from the modern Swiss watch industry. Although we covered the news about the Eterna?Caliber 39 here some two years ago, we had not heard too much about how much progress Eterna had made with developing the Caliber 39. By early 2015, that has at last changed, and we have seen all major iterations of the Eterna?Caliber 39. It is thanks to this spectacular encounter?that coming up now is the third episode in our unique Movement Hands-On Series. Get your popcorn?and beverage nearby as we are about to learn a lot about what may very well be the most interesting and viable alternative to the famous array of ETA movements.ETA?cutting?out the supplies of its?semi-assembled movement kits entirely by 2011 and drastically and continuously reducing the amount of complete?calibers it?sells to third parties C read: non-Swatch Group C customers were?some of the?defining happenings for?the?21st century watch industry. BPH seem low with AP
Please smack me senseless when I ask this.... This is just a total newbie question...I see a lot of watches showing higher BPH like 36000 by zenith and many other watches touting 28000. The APs are down in the 21000 from what I have seen...Why are they so slow? While I would agree that faster doesnt always make it better it seems to be a modern standard and that AP is behind in terms of the general market. Can someone enlighten me on this? The more technical explanation the better for my nerdy self...
I might never take this off...incoming Sky Dweller...
I had actually put my name in for the black dial because it's so elegant and seems more dressy. But then I started thinking that I already have a couple of black dials (Daytona and Milgauss), and a quirky Z-Blue Milgauss...so when my AD ( a Rolex boutique in a regional chain jewelry store) said she thought she was getting the Sky Dweller, I told I'd prefer white. Lo and behold 5 days later it's on the wrist. I love it.Couple early wrist shots...we have a thing to go to, but I wanna take more with my good camera and lenses later. Driving over the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston, SC, and downtown for the evening. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
