Vacheron Constantin Reference 57260 Pocket Watch Is World's Most Complicated Watch Ever Made
To celebrate its 260 years of uninterrupted history, today, Vacheron Constantin has revealed the Vacheron Constantin Reference 57260 pocket watch, which, according to the manufacture,?is the most complicated watch ever made. Commissioned by one?of the top collectors in the world and?the result of eight years of research, development, prototyping, manufacturing, and?assembly all performed?in?Vacheron Constantin's Atelier Cabinotiers haute horlogerie?workshop, this unique piece was conceived to be the most complex mechanical timepiece ever created C taking the title from another pocket watch, the Patek Philippe Caliber 89?pocket watch?and its 33 complications and 1,728 components. It is here, at the beginning, where we should mention that there is not one definitive rule as to what can and cannot be called a complication. The New Nomos Lux Weissgold Watch
Nomos has expanded their distinctive line of watches into two new upmarket model lines, the Lux and the Lambda. Available this November, the Lux and Lambda (discussed here) represent a new direction for the conservative Glashtte?brand as they move into small batch production of gold watches that are powered by a new range of in-house movements. While we will cover the Lambda in an separate post, the Lux is arguably the outlier in Nomos' newly expanded lineup. Available in two 18k white gold versions - the Lux Weissgold (light blue and white dial) and the Lux Weissgold Hell (white dial), the range utilizes a tonneau-style case rendered in 18k white gold and measuring 40.5 x 36 mm. With wire lugs and a thickness of just 8.95 mm, the Lux should make for a very wearable design. The Lux range is powered by the DUW 2002, a new hand-wound calibre that is produced in-house by Nomos. The DUW 2002 features twin mainspring barrels that provide 84 hours of power reserve to the three hand movement w

Each tells the time on a single 24-hour scale, encouraging a more relaxed interpretation of the time. This is a travel watch designed for the gentleman on a leisurely vacation who only needs subtle reminders of about what time it is, not the man keeping a schedule to the second. With a watch that is this simple on the surface, the key is executing the details properly. And Jaquet Droz has done an admirable job here, making sure the small things are handled well. 2 OF 14 The Grande Heure GMT's asymmetrical hand geometry This starts with the shapes of the two hands. To ensure that both are legible even when they are close to one another, the broad bases have the extended tips offset asymmetrically. This means that when they are "overlapping," there is actually
