Basel Releases on Breitling's New Website
Checking out the new Breitling website and you can find some of the new models to be released at Basel. Some of the highlights include a new Navitimer Chronograph in 41mm with a non in house movement and a three handed Navitimer in 38mm with non in house movement, a new sized Super Ocean Heritage II at 44mm with an in house (Tudor based) movement and a new Chronomat with a new bezel. True to his Georges Kern word all of the new model chronographs with in house movements have contrasting sundials while the non in house models do not. Changed plot but cant replace arnold a sad demise
Is Terminator: Genisys any fun? I liked it more than I thought I would, though I’m still not entirely sure I, you know, liked liked it. The action sequences are relatively well constructed and more coherent than is all-too-often the case in Hollywood fare. It’s nice to have Arnold back in the saddle, and the robot’s dry sense of “humor” wears well on the aging star. Clarke can’t replace Linda Hamilton—she seems small and soft compared to the hard-edged Sarah Connor from Judgment Day. Insightful Rolex event last night (UK relevance)
Had the absolute pleasure of being invited along to a Scottish Rolex & Tudor event last night.Aside from the delicious dinner and free flowing champagne and wine all night (for which I'm suffering today), there was a large display of the Basel 2017 releases (a mix of fully functional and display models) and many other references to try throughout the evening.I believe that the event was a joint Rolex and AD affair, with the opportunity to speak to both the AD's owners (one of whom I was sitting beside during dinner) and Rolex directly, and in a quite frank and open manner.Some of the key points which may be of interest (and confirming much of what we understand) as discussed were:1) Rolex is not happy about people buying to flip and make a quick profit2) AD's are indeed under pressure from Rolex to try and prevent that happening and are mindful of their agency (and retaining it) That's not as bad as it sounds, but it does make perfect sense for an AD not to upset a particular man
