Tim's Horology At Halftime: The Best Of 2015 To Date
Welcome to the 2015 Horology Halftime Show, presented by hindsight. The official arrival of summer means that Baby New Year clichs are as dead as your old Synchronar 2100, and in our era of instant analysis, it's high-time for a look back at a few?of high horology's best moments so far. Sit back, read on, and celebrate the finest plays of 2015's first two quarters.Boldest Move: Patek Philippe Calatrava 5524G.While the speculative impact of the Apple Watch has inspired the largest volume of controversy during the year to date, the most intense debate raged around Patek Philippe's first take on the evergreen pseudo-vintage pilot's watch genre. The Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time 5524G left some very self-important folks tying themselves in knots and exchanging CAPS-LOCK carbine rounds in online fora. For that entertainment value alone, the more jocular members of the enthusiast fraternity collectively owe Thierry Stern a free round at his favorite watering hole in Plan-les-Ouates
The Agent SmartWatch Moves The Category Forward
While there is still some question as to how successful the smartwatch segment will be, that hasn't stopped brands (mostly newer) from pushing innovation to get new models out on the market. Today's example has technical chops paired with design from a watch brand. The watch, of course, is the Agent Smartwatch by Secret Labs. Interestingly, this company isn't a startup - they're an established company, albeit in the arena of fabricated electronics (including an arduino alternative). What this means for us is that they know how to put the internals of the watch together in a way that will give the watch power and flexibility, as well as some pretty nice battery life. Additionally, since they've already invested their main business in Microsoft-based development tools, that means they'll have an app development suite that will be familiar to a broad range of programmers. This could very well lead to a good variety of apps for use with the watch.Slapping together circuits and building deve

Looking for a nice US AD
Hello:I am going to visit New York Patek Exhibition in July. I am looking for a nice US AD that can offer me some nice watches during the exhibition. Could anyone suggest me a good AD? Welcome to contact with me if you are a nice US Patek AD.I attended London exhibition, but I do not get any nice watches. Just think I may be able to get some special watches, especially beautiful enamel watch.I am very loyal to my London AD for over 8 years, but I never have any chance to have an enamel watch. Therefore I am looking for an AD that can makes my goal comes true.
Advice on a 5396
I have been considering a 5146G for some time and then happened to try on a 5396G while visiting NY last month. I am thinking now, that is the watch for me (looking for a long term PP...not something to flip in a year or two). Really caught my eye as sleek and a modern classic piece. Also liked the white face over the cream face on the 5146.The 5396 to my eye seems more business or formal (but hoping I can dress it down a bit with maybe a mat strap) vs the 5146. Not looking for an everyday piece but also dont want it to be too limiting. Any thoughts on this?I think the 5146 is and will always be seen as a classic. Question is what about the 5396? Crystal balls out please! I know its person choice but does the PP community here think the 5396 a long term keeper or will it fade off as a miss in a few more years time? Or should I just stick with the more tried and true 5146?Thanks in advance for any advice or commentary. Borrowed a few pics just for reference.
