Close-Up: The Award-Winning, Bauhaus-Inspired Nomos Tangente Watch
Nomos Glashtte, a watch brand very popular in its native Germany and now making a big push in America as well, takes justifiable pride in its flagship timepiece, the starkly designed and multiple design-award-winning Tangente watch, which applies Bauhaus design principles to its dial.Watch aficionados are likely familiar with the German watchmaking town of Glashtte, and the two major luxury brands that hail from there, A. Lange & S?hne and Glashtte Original. (Another German watch company, Tutima, has recently moved some manufacturing there as well.) Nomos, founded in 1991, has a few aspects in common with the “big two” Saxon watch brands, in that it makes its own movements and incorporates traditional Glashtte elements into them, such as three-quarters plates and Glashtte wave and sunburst decorations. However, Nomos is different in that its watches are by and large much more affordably priced, with steel cases and mostly simple complications. The Tangente, firs
Introducing The Breitling Chronoliner, A Modern Aviator With Vintage Nuances
Breitling has?been rekindling vintage-inspired pieces for a while now. Last month, we showed you the in-house Transocean 1915 Mono-pusher Chrono, and before that a 38 mm Transocean Chrono. But, let's not forget that Breitling's legacy as a tool watch applies as much in the air as it does on the sea. Its latest release, the Breitling Chronoliner, is an aviation themed watch that evokes images of that?bygone era. When Breitling says that it drew inspiration from vintage pieces?in designing this aviator, it's only natural that we focus on our favorites. If we put on our?vintage?goggles, we don't have to look too hard to notice piston pushers and a?black bezel on a?panda dial C and that means a Breitling Co-Pilot as far as vintage aviators are concerned. We covered one here?not too long ago. Granted, the registers are at 6, 9, and 12 instead of 3, 6, and 9 and the bezel is of the?24-hour variety?instead of 12, but maybe the Chronoliner's looks are inspired by a medley of older models. Caliber 3120 accuracy
Just a week into wearing my white diver I've noticed something unusual which has not happened with my Daytona. Although mechanical movements are known to be far from accurate, they should be gaining or losing at the same rate each day, right? With my daytona it's consistently at +5 seconds per day, which is fine cause I know it's due for a service but I'm refusing to send it in as if now. But this is what I have noticed with my diver. Day 1: +3.5 secDay 2: +9 secDay 3: + 16 secHm... are these figures alright? Or is it time for a service. It's still under warranty. Thanks!
5110 or not?
Good day to all,As some of you have already given me very constructive feedbacks when I was purchasing the 3940s, I would like to have your opinion on adding or not the 5110.A quick recap, all my Pateks have the 240 movement. It is by pure coincidence (3738G, 5712/1A, 3940G, 3940J). I used to dislike the worldtime, finding the cluttered names of the cities in the world a little has-been (it reminded me of the walls at reception desks of hotels and offices in the 1970s/80s, with individual clocks showing the time in Paris, London, New York, Hong Kong etc). (Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone here). But over time, I start to get attracted to the dial design, the perfect shape of the casing, the perfect 37mm size, the perfect tapering of the alligator strap. And today, I must say that my position and opinion have changed. I have 2 offers, to acquire either a 5110R or 5110P. My 2 questions are (by the way, I have read most of the postings on the 5110 in this forum, which made me love this
Milgauss 116400GV
HiI rarely see people talking about Milguass - neight the new blue dial or the old one. Milgauss is one of the Vintage Rolex - at least in the book.. but rarely seen in the market or even people wearing. How so?I am in the market for 116400GV - black dial with green saphire. Anyone owning and want to share impression? Also, anyone who used to own it please share your love-hate relationship too.Looking forward to the outcome from this forum :) :) :)By the way, is the Milgauss classified as Sport or Dress? The clasp is very unique. The look is mixed between typical DateJust and Explorer for me.
