Buzz Aldrin 105.012?
In reading old threads and doing an internet search there does seem to be some disagreement on which watch Aldrin wore as he stepped onto the moon, 105.012 or 145.012. Since Aldrin's watch was lost/stolen we will never know for 100% certain. However the following article certainly makes it look like Aldrin wore a 105.012. Opinions? Do some of you believe Aldrin wore a 145.012, and if so why?monochrome-watches/omega-...rly-pre-moons/
Something different to end the year
The limited edition JFK commemorative, 18ct YG, manual wind cal. 2006:Photos do not do this one justice - at least mine don't. I'll have to get it up to Bill's (gaopa's) studio for some professional shots.Although I had some concerns about the size ( 25.39 x 31.50mm x 7mm ), it wears nicely. At only 32gm, it is hardly noticeable on the wrist but definitely has presence and will make good modern company for my 60-year old Omega bumper and Rolex bubble back. What a way to end the year!Fr. Once Liquid Metal becomes standard, How will the Limited Edition be different?
Admittedly I'm becoming obsessed with this watch -I can't wait till I get one so that I can quickly lose interest in it!But I was wondering what you guys think...I think that it is a given that after Basel 2011 all PO's will have the Liquid metal Bezel/dial..So, how will the 1948 limited editions be different? The red SEAMASTER?THE dial itself?the Words 'limited edition?or will you have to pull out the box and papers to show that it's one of the limited?
Rolex Price Increase!!!
So I just looked at rolex website and it appears that submariners have just had a price increase in the US from $8550 to $9250 for SS sub date? Now mind you I just traveled to Mexico today so maybe that's why the price is different on the website but it's still listed in dollars. Please someone in the states tell me this isn't so. Thanks
I'm in hot pursuit of my first Daytona
I'm in hot pursuit of my first Daytona.I'm now wondering if maybe I should forego buying a highly overpriced 116500LN ($18,000-$20,000+) and instead go for a well cared for 116520. Should I decide to pursue a second hand Daytona SS 116520 which year model should I set my sights on? Are the newer year(s) such as 2014-15 better than previous years? Do any of the 116520 model years have annoying characteristics I should avoid?Any other pointers and suggestions? Many thanks for your help.
