Historical Perspectives: The IWC Ceramic Fliegerchronograph Reference 3705, A Look Back At A Rare Mo
One of the rarest and most interesting IWC watches of the last few decades is one that a lot of newer IWC clients and fans might not even have heard of: the long out-of-production reference 3705, ceramic cased “Fliegerchronograph” or Pilot’s Chronograph. The Fliegerchronograph was first introduced by IWC in 1994 (a follow-on from an almost completely forgotten hybrid quartz-mechanical watch, the 36 mm “Pilot’s Watch Chronograph,” which debuted at the Dübendorf Airfield, near Zurich, all the way back in 1988). The ceramic cased "Fliegerchronograph Keramik" 3705 was introduced in the same year as the standard stainless steel version, reference 3706. We covered 3705 in a comparison with a modern ceramic IWC pilot's chrono almost four years ago, so we thought it might be time to take another look. 1 OF 7 3705 was not the first ceramic cased watch made by IWC. width on aqua terra 38.5 co-axial
Hello Everyone,I am looking to make my purchase my first watch and here is a little background. My wrist are on the skinny side, 6.75. The watch will be an everyday watch and not look out of place in the gym or with a suit. The blue dial aqua terra seems to fit the bill perfectly and I could swap out the straps to dress it up or down. My question is on the width. I have heard people complain that it is tall, and I was wondering how big of an issue that would be on a smaller wrist when wearing dress attire? While I don't wear a suit constantly, I do wear long sleeve button up shirts a lot of the time. The last thing I want is to be fussing with pulling my cuff over the watch. Thanks for any advice! I appreciate it beings I am so new to all this.
5990 considerations
Hi All, Thinking hard about the 5990...chrono and GMT are probably the complications I like the most and a grey dial adds some variety to what I currently have in the stable. Out of curiosity, what kind of discount have you been getting at AD for this? I know it varies by country/city - if it makes a difference the cities I spend the most time in are full of many deep pocketed individuals (New York, Singapore, London) who buy a lot...Anyone love/hate the 5990?
