My First Grail Watch: Jean-Marc Wiederrecht Of Agenhor
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch."?In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. ?Today, we're speaking with a gentleman who graduated from the Geneva Watchmaking School just as the quartz crisis was hitting it's stride. ?These days, you'll find Jean-Marc?Wiederrecht as a driving force behind his company, Agenhor.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Jean-Marc Wiederrecht (JW):I am a watchmaker graduate from the Geneva Watchmaking School in 1972. In 1996 I founded with my wife a watch movements company called AGENHOR. AGENHOR is a small factory working as a supplier for many very renowned watch brands. To have a better idea of AGENHOR's activities please have a look here.ABTW: When did your fascination with watches start?JW: Rather late in my life! In 1967 I had the chance to visit a watch workshop that fascinated me completely and
Anyone else surprised not to see this on the PP website?
By this I mean the advanced research 5650G, I love it, unfortunately my AD's is already going to another client, and anyways can't justify getting another watch this year, the 5711 and Daytona will have already done a dent in my watch budget, but not too big, but the Vouti has been paid upfront 70% and still need to add 30% to get that bad boy, so adding the 30% plus 52.000 CHF for the Aquanaut on top is quite impossible this year, too bad as I really find it very interesting. How do you guys like it?https://.hodinkee/articles/th...anced-research
Two Gentlemen Discussing Which Next Patek? or--
I was walking down Bond Street in London. Thanks goodness-- the boutique was closed today and it is my only day in the town. However I thought about what these two blokes might be discussing outside the shopWhich Piece is next? or are they complaining about the cost? or perhaps discussing which piece they just purchased.
What Panerai would complement a Rolex
I was hoping to get advice from those that already own a Rolex and Panerai on what Panerai you would advise on getting to complement an existing collection of Expy, BLNR, SubC, Z-Blue. I think the Panerais are straight up ugly when juxtaposed to a Rolex, but there's something about these grotesquely huge watches that I find appealing (I'm just not really sure what that is yet, more visceral than anything). The problem for a first time Panerai buyer is that there's so damn many to choose from in a sea of sameness from one piece to another. It appears that a generally desirable piece would include a clear case back and some complication(s). I'd prefer a piece that's not huge, and would appropriately fit my ~6.5 wrist. Also, I'm not really sure if I like the crown guard or whatever that things called that protects the crown (on the Luminor maybe?). Any advice will be helpful. I'd like to stay in the LNIB range of $5K-$7K range (more towards the low midpoint). Or should I just totally forg
First day with the HULK !!!
The HULK is here... for those who saw my last post and were interested in seeing some photos... here they are. They aren't the best, but I'll be taking a lot more. This watch really is stunning in outdoor light. Indoors it can almost look like a Kermit as the Bezel still looks very green but the dial does look very dark almost black. But in the sunlight there's no doubt about it, HULK IN FULL RAGE
